Why are ????????
@jasonbourne52  is correct and I'm ok with this policy. However, there could be an issue when purchasing a big ticket item. If I was interested in a $30,000 pair of speakers, for example, i would like to speak to the seller. It's easy to get the p...
The Sota Cosmos Vacuum Turntable
Thanks for posting your impressions and the unfortunate backstory. Your Cosmos is absolutely beautiful. I love the quality of woodwork and the stain, are those dovetail joints?  I appreciate isolated suspended tables as well and your Sota is my d...
Which Preamp with JC5? Rogue Audio RP-9 or Parasound JC2
IME, Rogue preamps are voiced to be neutral, accurate, with great dynamics. Depending on tube selection you will achieve wide and deep soundstaging. Sonic characteristics are too similar to your amp.
Dedicated Circuits - Subpanel importance?
That's right, @jea48 , it was a large toroidal transformer humming. You answered my query and we discussed what might be causing it before I called the electrician. I'm always appreciative of the help you and others provide.  Your explanation reg...
Dedicated Circuits - Subpanel importance?
BUT, an equipment equipment grounding conductor still must be ran with the feeder conductors and the equipment grounding conductor shall be terminated to the equipment ground bar in the main electrical panel as well connected to the ground bar in...
Dedicated Circuits - Subpanel importance?
There's no advantage to a subpanel, imo, unless perhaps it can be located close to your system and simplify the rest of the install. As for grounding, all grounds must be bonded together at the main panel and only at the main panel to ensure a...
Dedicated Circuits - Subpanel importance?

The Best Preamp is no Preamp?
I've owned a couple of amps which had gain controls so I went direct from my DAC. I noticed a super black background and more clarity. It was an interesting experience. After awhile, music sounded too analytical so I added the preamp. Most of th...

DIY Active Ground Box
Very informative, thanks.
Bob Carver Going Direct.
@oddiofyl , I get your point. But there must be someone in charge of production who decided to mount PCBs with glue instead of bolting them to the chassis. OTOH, wiring the fuse to the wrong circuit sounds like shoddy workmanship to me. I realise...
DIY Active Ground Box
I filled the box with a mixture of tree charcoal, Hawaiian charcoal salt, rock salt, copper filings, and some local dirt. @guakus ,  how did you decide on what to fill the box with? And what grounding properties do these materials have? In anot...
