Now Patrick has a notice about the merger on his website. It links to Wyred 4 Sound but his cables aren't displayed.    I hope this is a move forward, those of you who followed the Wyred merger with Carver know that it was a disaster. Manufactur...
Linlai E 6sn7 tubes
@weebeesdad , did the Chinese vendor list them as Grant Fidelity "top 10% Ultra Low Noise?" Does the tube have PVT stamped on the glass? My take after reading the GF website is the Ultra Low Noise is a replacement for their previously offered tub...
Linlai E 6sn7 tubes
The Shunguang facility burned down. There are no more WE6SN7 being manufactured. There are some vendors on Ebay selling these tubes, however there are warnings from tube enthusiasts that these are rejects by Shunguang that do not meet spec.
What made you change to a 6SN7 preamp?
Thus, a question which controlled for this would ask whether your change in preamp was lateral in terms of construction quality and nevertheless there were improvements in sound which could safely be attributed to the tube? I upgraded my 6SN7 ,...
Linlai E 6sn7 tubes
An adapter is needed to raise the Linlai so they can sit next to traditional size tubes. In most preamps tube sockets are close together.
Linlai E 6sn7 tubes
I contacted Don Sachs when Shuguang WE6SN7’s became unavailable. He’s using Linlai now and says they’re the best he’s found to use in his designs.
Looking for suggestions for a good and trusted tube dealer
Andy is the best I've found for top quality tubes which are truly NOS. He measures every aspect of a tube including noise and microphonics. Brent is great as well but does not test for noise. There is a $10 fee for noise testing, no big deal, just...
What made you change to a 6SN7 preamp?
@immatthewj these postings may be old, but so are vintage tubes. https://www.head-fi.org/threads/the-reference-6sn7-thread.117677/   http://www.dehavillandhifi.com/6sn7_vt.htm
What made you change to a 6SN7 preamp?
Right, Andy lives for tubes. He tests all his tubes after he acquires them and adds them to his inventory. At the time of a purchase he measures  many different parameters of each tube as if they were to be used in his system.
Audio diffuser
@knighttodd , sounds like a well damped room so far. I also went 2" behind and to the side of speakers, I need all the bass I can get. I don't know how much the high-end will be improved by your new diffusers. There's mostly backwave from speaker...
What made you change to a 6SN7 preamp?
In perhaps the past 10 years or so there seem to be more preamps designed around the 6SN7. I’m on my second after using 12AU, AX7’s. I’ll agree with others regarding the tonal quality of these tubes, the spacious soundstaging, and the realistic te...
Why don't upgrade the wires and components inside our units?
My tech suggested upgrading the wiring on my 15 year old preamp (2nd owner). I was only expecting cap replacement. I sent him my Audio Note DAC and asked him to upgrade it to current model spec. He added Tantalum resistors, Kaisei and Rubycon cap...
Audio diffuser
With the trays it would be about 54 inches tall and 36 inches wide behind each speaker. What is the size and layout of your room? Is it dedicated for listening and where is your listening position?  I think you have a great plan. How did you d...
Go Cat8!
I upgraded to CAT8 for the shielding and increased protection from RFI/EMI. Each pair of conductors is wrapped in foil to prevent crosstalk, then the entire cable is shielded. I’m using it from router to streamer and there is an audible lowering o...
Looking for a new digital cables. Has anybody heard these?
For $1125 you can get a High Fidelity Cables CT-2 S/PDIF through The Cable Co. I have one and it's able to present music in an analogue way. I've auditioned about 10 SPDIF coax cables.
