Reclocking device for the Schiit Gungnir?
OK, here’s what I’ve tested so far:Different transports...both the ARC and NAD CDP’s present a hard edge to the sound. This is not at all what is referred to as "glare," but the music is sounding too bright; i.e., violins have a steel string quali...
Reclocking device for the Schiit Gungnir?
@skoczylas ,A lot of the discussion on dacs - particularly schiit - is on specs rather than sound. if the chord spunds better why not stay with it? we all agree specs dont correlate exactly to good sound. That’s true, but there are so many users p...
Reclocking device for the Schiit Gungnir?
Yes erik, the reviews all state how good the Schiit clock design is. I will try a different transport, but the Chord DAC sounded so sweet using this setup, so I’m miffed. The ARC only uses BNC and AES outputs, but I can try USB from an NAD transpor...
I NEED AN AMP!! BUT WHAT?? HELP PLEASE!!
For under $1000, a refurbished Sunfire 300 from the late 90s. 600 wpc into 4 ohms; very smooth and dynamic. For a bit over $1K, the Sunfire 600.
First Watt F7 owners, impressions?
@roncagg Thanks, Ron. Good info.
First Watt F7 owners, impressions?
I called Reno HiFi regarding the F6, F7 and was told that they probably couldn't drive my Gallo Classico floorstanders (88dB, 4 ohm). How well does the F7 push the bass of your Gallo 3.1's?

I'm interested in hearing about the F7. The input impedance spec of 10kHz makes it hard to find a suitable match with a tube preamp.Have you compared the F7 with the F6?
Step Up from a Sunfire
I leave my 300 turned on 24/7 (with surge protection). It does take a couple hours to reach it’s optimal performance after a cold start. Bob Carver has written that it can be left turned on and that constant voltage to the unit will not hurt. (not...
Chuck Berry will be 90 next week.
Chuck is the real "King of Rock & Roll." (not the other guy).
Bi-wire speaker cable setup for Krell FPB 400cx
Typically you want the 2 cables to have the same impedance (or similar in specs). If you like the Morrow’s, try moving higher up the line and use a single-run. Then use Morrow or comparable wire for jumpers. Much better than the stock jumpers. It d...
Tube Preamp for around 2K?
The Rogue Perseus Magnum casts a huge soundstage and has extended highs and deep bass. It has a neutral and detailed sonic signature, so tube rolling is required if you want a warmer sound. It does not, however, sound tubey. The 99 Magnum which us...

Reliabilty, Keeping Equipment Powered on or off?
You can turn off the DAC, SACDP, Headphone Amp when not in use, as they will warm up quickly before a listening session. Buy a low dB computer type fan for the Kell and leave it powered up. It takes a few hours for an amp like that to warm up for ...
When will there be decent classical music recordings?
@rcprince.Very interesting and accurate comments on mic'ing techniques. And thanks for sharing your mixing experience. As for Karajan, look how many of his DG recordings were later remixed and remastered due to his insistence on overseeing the engi...
Dark Side of the Moon - Is MFSL really all that?
IMO, the 1983 Japanese Harvest CD sounds better than any remaster I have heard.Very open sonics, uncompressed, with wild sound effects. Can be found on Discogs.
