Compatibility question regarding a Chord 2Qute and a PS Audio Perfectwave Transport
andrew, much of my knowledge of digital cables was learned from Almarg and others on the forum. My background is in the analogue world of broadcast and studio recording. So digital came later. It is a trial and error process, so buy from companies ...
Compatibility question regarding a Chord 2Qute and a PS Audio Perfectwave Transport
as I interpret various statements in the manual for the PWT its XLR output appears to simply be balanced AES/EBU, presumably 110 ohms. Andrew, I agree with Al’s statement that the XLR output is the typical AES/EBU 110 ohm signal used in digital de...
Compatibility question regarding a Chord 2Qute and a PS Audio Perfectwave Transport
Did u check to see if the XLR output is 110 ohm AES ? I'm curious. The Perfectwave transport is a brilliant design.
Compatibility question regarding a Chord 2Qute and a PS Audio Perfectwave Transport
The typical digital XLR output is AES standard...110 ohms. Are you sure that the output is XLR/spdif? Usually a XLR AES transformer is used to convert AES to spdif coax. But if your output is truly a balanced XLR spdif, then call PS audio or Googl...
Compatibility question regarding a Chord 2Qute and a PS Audio Perfectwave Transport
I owned a QuteEx and used BNC coax from an ARC CD transport and the DAC sounded damn good; very much like analogue. Finding the right cable was key. Try to audition some BNC to RCA coax cables. The PS memory player will output a better asynchronous...
First Watt F3 - Remote On/Off
Can you use a high quality power strip that does not limit current, such as a Furman? My amp has no power switch, so it is plugged into a Furman and then into the wall. To my ears, it is completely transparent.
Seller asked for PayPal fees after the sale. Should I pay them or not?
That sucks, @biggiglypanda. When I list an item for sale, I absorb the Paypal fee. Most buyers will negotiate a price, and if it's too low, I'll remind said buyer that I am paying the fees. IME, the buyer will then accept a fair price.Audiogon lis...
Seller asked for PayPal fees after the sale. Should I pay them or not?
Many sellers here want the BUYER to pay the PP fees. You can alert him to the fact that the ad did not specify this, but I’ll bet he will still want you to pay. If the amount is significant and you really want the item, offer to split the fee with...
Why warm amps sound better.
Yup, sunfire is a/b. Doesn't it switch to class H ? Downconverter goes into class h? That's right, Sunfire is class A/B. The Carver amps were class G.I leave my Sunfire turned on 24/7. The sound from the amp at idle for a few hours is clearly bett...
new Cartridge for Rega P1
I can tell you from experience that the Elys 2 has extended highs, but many vocals will sound sibilant. It does not do very well with the high-end frequencies. The Ortofon 2m Blue is a "best buy" cart. It performs well overall and has a good high-e...
Reclocking device for the Schiit Gungnir?
@yage ,Thanks for the info and sharing your experience. Yes, I am keeping the DAC powered up. I am burning it in with the IsoTek disc plus heavy metal CDs on repeat, letting it run overnight. I keep it turned on even when not feeding it a signal.
new Cartridge for Rega P1
Did you buy your speakers new and are they fully broken in?
Reclocking device for the Schiit Gungnir?
Found this review regarding the Wyred 4 Sound Remedy...I used the Remedy between my Rega Apollo and Schiit Gungnir Multibit. Since the Rega was an older CD player the remedy improved the clock timing before input to the Schiit DAC. With the bet...
Anyone with experience with the effectiveness of the AVA HUMDINGER?
Try it or the Emotiva and if you still have hum, then return the amp under warranty. FYI, in the past, Rogue has installed some bad toroidal transformers in their amps.
