Has anyone tried the Audience Forte F3 power cord? IME, the best buy in PC's is a used Audience Powerchord. Organic, deep extension, and a spacious soundstage. It leans to the warm side but a great sense of realism. It's an affordable step up in aftermarket PC's.
Reel to Reel is Alive & Well! You made a great find.Where did you order the tapes from and how's the noise level at 3-3/4 ?
High Fidelity Cables MC-0.5 Effect Anybody know if noise from the amp (hum and buzzing) would affect the performance of the 0.5's while playing music? The highs were not smooth with the modules installed and presented overall harshness, even though there were benefits to imaging. ...
Take up drums at age 56? Glad to hear about your commitment to practice, and sounds like you're having fun. A real high hat sounds like a great idea. You'll be missed on the forum.Jim.
High Fidelity Cables MC-0.5 Effect So many positive experiences, I'd like to give the 0.5's another try. My amp was having problems at the time; hum and power tubes red plated. Maybe this affected the overall performance. Amp is in the shop now, bad resistors found with low voltag...
High Fidelity Cables MC-0.5 Effect @photon46 , the sense of realism really is remarkable. Maybe your next upgrade should be a second MC-0.5. I probably could have made the modules fit my system, but it would have involved tube and cable rolling. I experimented using only one modu...
High Fidelity Cables MC-0.5 Effect I auditioned the MC-0.5's. I used two modules in my system and the effect they had on my music was astounding. They're not power conditioners, although they do lower the noise floor, but they create a holographic image. It's so hard to explain in ...
Seeking tube 12AX7 recommendation for a Conrad-Johnson Premier 3 @arturos73 , Tubes branded as Hammond are good quality since they need to perform well in their organs.According to the manual, the 5751s are used in both the line stage and phonostage as cathode followers and anode followers. They will have less ...
Is there such a thing??-- Tube Preamp Question Once again I'm in total agreement with newbee. That's a well regarded preamp, I would not be looking to ditch it. You've had it serviced and there is no hum present. This won't solve your problem, but order some NOS tubes; matched and tested for n...
Is there such a thing??-- Tube Preamp Question I couldn’t find the output gain spec of your preamp, but a reviewer wrote the gain is "quite high."I think you should stop using the gain switch. Since your pre has high gain, use the low setting for both sets of speakers. Your monoblocks don’t ne...
What equipment upgrades or tweaks will improve the sound of drums? Many good comments here.I played drums for 20 years and Nigel Olsson had one of the best sounding kits. I saw Elton twice at MSG in the mid 1970s and the drums were certainly a highlight for me. The mix was perfect and the drums sounded melodic an...
Is there such a thing??-- Tube Preamp Question Agree with everything @newbee stated. I couldn’t find the output gain spec of your preamp, but a reviewer wrote the gain is "quite high." This would support newbee’s comments. This preamp requires low-noise tubes. This would at least reduce any tub...
good preamp for First Watt F7 What's your budget? And SE preamp I assume?
good preamp for First Watt F7 Rogue Audio RP-5. Output impedance: 500 Ohms.
Seeking tube 12AX7 recommendation for a Conrad-Johnson Premier 3 Mullards are pricy. The longplate square getter is the best I've heard, but it's about $400 - 500 per pair. Check out all the versions. The CV4004 is a magical sounding tube. Also, look at Brimar. Made in UK as well, more extended and dynamic than ... |
