Audience Ohno interconnect: Between a P.S. Audio S300 amp and C.J. PV-14L SE pre-amp? Poor soundstage and lack of detail...needs more break-in. Possibly up to 200hrs, but you'll hear a difference before then.
Equi=Core Hum & Other Issues OK. Many thanks again, Erik.
Equi=Core Hum & Other Issues Thanks, @erik_squiresSpeaking of positive and neutral, why does a balanced power conditioner have inverted polarity? I know the 120V signal is inverted into + - 60V, but shouldn’t the polarity be corrected at the output?
Equi=Core Hum & Other Issues An update and a question...The dodgy breaker fried when resetting it to power up the Equi=Core. It left a strong burning smell in the room. Of course when the electrician was here it worked fine, but he will be replacing it.So, I moved all compone...

Equi=Core Hum & Other Issues Tuffy, while the Equi=Core was humming I turned off the refrigerator and other appliances. And no dimmers in my house. I live alone so I know what devices are being used. Although I forgot to turn off the router.
Equi=Core Hum & Other Issues @twoleftears Thanks.I'm aware of the Van Alstine as an inexpensive solution...https://avahifi.com/products/humdinger-dc-line-blockerThe Isotek looks great with its ability to rebalance the AC sine wave, but it's expensive.https://www.musicdirect....
Equi=Core Hum & Other Issues @jea48 Multimeter reading on the dedicated Atma-sphere line is 123.0V. Amp is powered up with no transformer hum. I guess I should take a reading when the amp is humming. BTW, the digital line measured 123.8V and later dropped to 121V, so voltag...

Linear Power supplies for DACs...? @c_avila1 , is the Cerious a custom cable? I don't see it on their website.I don't know if there is a standard connection to a LPS, but the termination to the device is a standard 2.1mm.

Equi=Core Hum & Other Issues @jea48 Thanks for the transformer wiring info.I'd like to keep you updated if you don't mind. Electrician appt. is Tuesday; my service order states to inspect panel and subpanel, replace the subpanel breaker, and inspect/service the Equi=Core.I p...
Isolation Cones vs Cheap Cables +2 for DH Cones. Have purchased every size and put them up against BDR Cones. Always returned the BDR's. I use 3 cones under components with a maple platform isolated on my shelves. Good advice from @geoffkait .
Linear Power supplies for DACs...? I read in one of my father's old MSEE textbooks from the golden age of hifi in the 50's, that a block of iron or other magnetic material in proximity to a transformer will improve coupling action between the primary & secondary windings.Thanks...
Linear Power supplies for DACs...? I also added a VPI brick on top of the LPS transformer. Seems to help smooth things out. Strange.@mkgus, what does VPI claim the benefits of the brick are when added to a power supply? |
