Power cord for low-watt tube amp?
An EL84 in PP triode, please tell us more about this amp and feel free to add pics too.  For several years, I had a modified Conn organ amp that ran 6BG6's in PP triode for 8 wpc.  One of the best sounding amps I ever had

Never heard any of the Quad electronics; although, I had an early FM4 several years back that I liked very much.  Also, heard the ESL63's once thru 50 watt tube monoblocks and they were indeed very nice.
2017 vs. 1990s - How far we have come
I'm with you Erik on the silver DIY cables.  Over the years, I've had many different IC's, nothing too exorbitant mostly Straightwire and high end Monster and I've also had several different DIY silver cables.  I don't go crazy trying to listen fo...
Opinion:PSaudio/Robertson audio pre/amp
I never heard the 4010; however, it was highly praised back in the day.  I believe it's bipolar outputs and I prefer mosfets as they are tubier sounding.  $800 seems high for both as there are a bunch of $300 amplifiers here and on Audiomart that ...
Cleaning silver faceplates?
I've had good results with Endust, Lemon Pledge, and Lemon Oil

Always wanted to hear the Epos ES14's, they look like very nice speakers.  The older Yamaha stuff is very interesting too.

Boxer - mine was an early Jeff Korneff 6bq5 int amp, Jeff didn't even want me calling it a Korneff as his Korneff 45 amps were much different in build quality from his earlier stuff.....I loved it though and thought it was terrific.I heard Lowther...

bdp - that's been since 1976, and actually system #6 I had for 5 years, but systems #7-13 I went through in about 6-7 months and then I got out of audio completely for about 4 years. In 1993, my daughter was born and I had these ProAc Studio 1's on...
Spend more money on the amp or the pre-amp?
As an additional comment to my post above, for $800, I'd also highly consider one of those Chinese integrated tube amps.  Audio Space, Antique Sound Labs, Jolida, Prima Luna - there's a lot to choose from on the internet.  I'd also consider a cust...
Current speaker threads are boring
To me, it's a little boring to read about expensive speakers/gear that I'll never be able to own or afford.  I like reading about the giant killer gear and classic gear, stuff that is obtainable.....A George Carlin analogy was his bit about teenag...
Spend more money on the amp or the pre-amp?
With $800, Maybe 50-50 but I would prefer to spend more on the preamp. At this budget, you'll have to consider an 80's classic amp and there are several in the $3-400 range like PS Audio or B&K, then I would match it with a nice Dyna PAS 3, th...
Most Beautiful Receiver / Integrated - Ever was... ?
So much great looking audio gear and everyone has their favorite.  Since my first receiver was a HK 330C, I tend to really like that series like the 430 & 730 with the dual transformers.  The Yamahas were also beautiful receivers too.  Nothi...
What's been your turntable ownership over the years?
My TT changes also have been very modest, 7 in 30+ years; electronics and speakers get changed most often and average out to be once a season or so if you count all the changes made.
What is your speaker ownership history since 1995?
I wish I was one of those guys with 5 speakers in 30 years, I'm more like 31 flavors........but if your looking at turntables, it's been 5 or 6 in 30 years.
