Best Audio quality in Home Theatre Reciever? DVD ?
apparently the avr350 doesn't support hdmi audio, although it has hdmi video switching. this wouldn't be a deal-killer for me--i'm a 2ch music-first guy and generally apathetic about the endless, mind-boggling array of movie sound enhancements--i ...
Modest Integrated to match with Klipsch RF-82's
sounds like you made a good choice. enjoy.
DENON DRA-685 in 'protection mode' will not play
usually it means you're speakers are clipping--i.e. the speaker wires are touching somewhere. try rewiring your speakers and make sure the = and - aren't making any contact.
Video Problem - No red spectrum in 720p format
i agree with rwwear--the setting on your display is most likely set to rgb (or to interlaced) rather than component (or to progressive)--use your tv remote to correct. you can try running the component out on your cable box directly to the display...
Is the B&W 600 series a good value?
knownothing: i did know that the 600s were made in china, which does keep manufacturing cost down; however they're still imported by brits, which means that their price is jacked up because of the terrible exchange rate between dollar & euro (...
Is the B&W 600 series a good value?
Personally, I'm not a B&W fan, although I actually prefer the 600 series to the massively overpriced 800/Matrix models. As to you central question, whether they're good values, B&Ws are almost by definition more expensive than many compara...
Most helpful audio companies
emotiva is the epitome of how to establish an audio business in lean times--build a decent product, market it directly, which enables it to be priced substantially lower than comparable retail-distributed products, and be zealous about customer se...

cool. please let us know the results. klipsches are quirky, so it'll be interesting to see the synergy with the different amps.

beernut:i better grasp where you're coming from. if you're soured on arcam, get a cambridge audio--i see their 65w units (i think the model is 640) for as little as $300 on these pages. very nice, neutral sounding piece--certainly more lively than...
Modest Integrated to match with Klipsch RF-82's
i recently bought an arcam alpha 9 on agon for a couple of hundred bucks and i'm really happy with it--rated at 65w/ch, but it roars w/lots of transparency. it's predecessors were a nad 325 (lots of oomph, but somewhat unrefined) and an 85w denon ...
Does anyone like country
to my ears, 98% of what's marketed as country, including most of the mainstream cowboy hat stuff, ranges from inconsequential to really terrible (although in fairness, you could say the same thing about rock). the 2% of country that's good, howeve...
Cambridge 840C Azur through a Bryston BDA-1 DAC?
agree with mapman--adding a dac to the cambridge (which has great inboard dacs and is actually sought after because of its digital input feature) would be overkill. i'd use the money on something else, like cds or beer--you'll get more discernible...
Looking for new speakers?
i did a similar search for near-wall positioned speakers, albeit at a lower budget. the best i heard i were paradigm signatures. i'd also be interested in checking out ohms, which seem to be impervious to placement and have the no-risk home auditi...
Advice on adding a sub to my system
adding a sub will have a much more significant effect than rolling tubes. hsu subs are, as stated, fantastic values. you might, however consider a martin logan dynamo, which is widely available in your price range. because the ml sub is designed t...
Nad c-370: Right Channel drops out
It's notable to me that (much like British cars)for all its positive qualities NAD simply isn't reliable as a brand--these forums are full of NAD gripes and problems. Thinking back, I've owned five or six NAD pieces (amps and sources); all but one...
