Simple audio-only universal remote?
i still use a sony universal (vl series)learning remote on some of my systems--around $20 on ebay or wherever. they're simple, work well and have hard buttons, which i much prefer to touch screens.
Is using a X.1 AV receiver just for stereo bad?
i'm not a techie, but looks like depending on model they use class a or a/b designs; b&k appears to use class d on some separate amps. the more i read, the more i'm impressed with their engineering--these mfrs. absolutely blow away the asian c...
What is the best bang for the buck 65 incher?....
right now, vann's is selling a samsung 63" plasma for $2500--free shipping. pretty incredible how low these prices have gone.
Is using a X.1 AV receiver just for stereo bad?
Zanon, most people believe that (all things being equal) for a host of engineering reasons separates will sound better than comparable integrated components, although of course a high-quality integrated will outperform suppar seperates. The ultima...
Is using a X.1 AV receiver just for stereo bad?
the answer, unsurprisingly, is it depends on the avr. i was very pleased using a b&k avr 202 and 307 for two channel stereo; i believe an arcam avr (e.g. the 305) would sound even better. correspondingly, my quite pricy denon avrs just don't h...

given your musical tastes, the revels will be more neutral and less fatiguing; you can't go wrong with 'em
Mini Home Theater Speakers ?
i actually chanced to hear the mirage omnisats auditioned against the gallos this weekend and the omnisats were, to my ears, far superior--much less boxy and directional; ergo i'd second theo's rec. you might also consider the definitive mythos se...
Denon pure direct mode as preamp?
m currently usng a denon avr3300 (and previously used a 4803) in pure direct wth a rotel amp as a preamp in a secondary system. t's convenient because of digital ins, video switchng et. al., but has never sounded very good--somewhat flat and lacki...
Quality cd player with a headphone input
sounds like what you really want is a cdp with a variable out (volume control) so as to obviate the need for an amp. here's a thread that lists many:http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?ddgtl&1127503682

Need to replace Denon 2900
i've had the same problem with denon lasers--owned a series of 2800 and 2910s which sounded great but eventually petered out. frankly, if you're committed to denon, you have to view 'em as disposable appliances; you can buy the 2800/2910 very chea...
Need more volume, cheap. Any advice?
you definitely need an external amp--with all channels driven your denon ain't putting out anywhere close to its rated power. i saw some b&k, emotiva and adcom 5ch amps listed on these pages within your price target--any of these will suit you...

Van L Speakerworks Quartet
i've idled away several afternoons at his shop and have always been impressed with the quartet; i still own and use a smaller van l monitor from the mid 90s. i haven't heard a simultaneous a/b of the quartets with others, but i've heard enough of ...
