You think Audiogon has problems ... look at Ebay prices asked by Sellers on Ebay and Agon do not reflect the risk involved.
Azimuth observations and importance does anyone use shims (spacers) for azimuth adjustment on a non-adjustable tonearm? does anyone make a set thin enough for this purpose?
Do I need to replace all my tubes at the same time in an amp, small signal tubes often last much longer than the power output tubes. If one tube out of a group of power tubes failed early in its expected lifetime, just replace that one.
Best beer several of the nominations above are not even beers, they are ales.
are some phono stages more resistant to hum? thanks to everyone for the responses. It is definitely hum, and not tube or other noise. I suspect that Dhl93449 correctly diagnosed a ground loop. How to solve it, in an apartment with exceptionally noisy wiring (even a flourescent light on the s...
Nakamichi 582 issues ime, Willy's prices are more reasonable than the alternatives. hard to say re: cost/benefit to repair; unless you have a large tape collection, probably not. Even then, they may have lost their sparkle over time. The 582 is ancient, and not one of...

Why is the market for used Levinson amps so slow? First three got it right. (how often does that happen?) Surprised Trelja's post got through.
are some phono stages more resistant to hum? when I do not connect the ground wire from the tt, just leave it dangling unconnected to anything, the hum is greatly reduced. What does this imply? problem with the way the entire system is grounded? I live in an apartment, and have no control ov...
are some phono stages more resistant to hum? thank you, will try all these things. I did try different tubes, not the problem.
One sub or two? According to Jim Smith in "Get Better Sound", stereo requires two subs for proper imaging; one sub is fine for home theater.
size of the driver My PMC Fb1i Signature speakers have a 6.5" driver and go down to 28 hz. I wouldn't have believed it before got them, but they have a transmission line design and really do go that low. IMHO, it's all about the design.
where could I get an armboard custom made? thanks! I left a message with the distributor. if you're curious, I contacted a seller of carbon fiber materials, which could machine one from carbon fiber for around $750. That would be cool, but mighty expensive. |
