Embarrassed....Audio furniture help
She hates your audio gear.Young women are indoctrinated with a minimalist aesthetic now.  Look at Architectural Digest: no rooms look like anyone ever lived there. What makes you think you will ever be allowed to listen in peace?  Have you heard t...
Russian Tube Preamp, No Return, Here I go again
@ akg_cayou missed the humorous sarcasm.  Hilde45 knows very well those were American quotes
Gave up my SET----looking for moderate to higher power replacement options
I got a D-Sonic to replace a Mesa Baron while it is under repair (blew a tube, etc.) and during the worst part of Houston summers (which run from about April through January.)  the D-sonic is very nice, lots of detail, virtually unlimited power, c...

What companies, out of Business, did you LOVE???

Do I need bi amping?
@ oldhvymec, do I correctly understand that you digitize and control everything from 300hz on down w/ Behringer 2496, and run a tube amp straight into the tweeter input?
Do I need bi amping?
that passive preamp doesn't contain a crossover; you would only be using it to equalize the the volume of the two speaker lines; you'd still be running the full bandwidth signal through both amps and through all speaker wires, not getting the bene...

Opening Record Store
Good advice above.  I agree with those above who question whether you would be buying anything more than a headache and a quick loss.     No reasonable businessman is looking for a record store in California to buy.  You might approach it in terms...
has anyone tried chinese cables?
Thanks to those who shared actual experiences.
smaller speakers for critical listening?
+1 Russ I still don’t understand why anyone would choose stand mounted mini’s, when a small tower takes up the same amount of floor space and has better, deeper, more realistic bass response.  The cost of good stands usually evens out the value pr...
Policy question: can I give away stereo equipment out here (asking for shipping)?
A friend of mine claimed to have gotten rid of all his Grateful Dead tapes.  Under pressure, he finally admitted, "Ok, I kept a few thousand."
To venture back into vinyl or not,...that is the question.
To exceed even moderately good modern digital with analogue is an expensive proposition.  It’s a big investment to buy a tt, phonopreamp, cables, cartridge, and records. Unless you already own a large record collection sitting in storage, don’t do...

Al was a real gentleman, and his posts were virtually authoritative.  His posts were never based on an unfounded opinion, and not infrequently, they were more like answers.  He was always polite while correcting others.  Greatly missed.
