Aggrivated tinnitus from speakers?
I've also had tinnitus for years. Who knows from what. When I was in boot camp way back in the mid 60's, we took a battery of aptitude tests. My highest score was in sonar. So I figure I had pretty good hearing back then. Tinnitus is difficult to...

So, not to be a Donnie downer (but I suppose I am) I enjoyed smoking in my youth till I didn't. I was a heavy smoker from about 17 until I quit cold turkey at 43. I was one of those idiots who thought I'd smoke and stop just before I got sick. I ...
Tubes, tone, and old age.
Carlsbad2 @llg98ljk Keep whipping that dead horse repeated by ss fans ad nauseum. Maybe you didn't pay attention to my post. I'm whipping no horse, dead or alive. My point is simply that audio perfection would mimic the source. The technology is...
Tubes, tone, and old age.
If you think about it, despite all the noises on forums, chasing the audio holy grail has little to do with "perfection". It has everything to do with what you think you want to hear. One of the best examples to me is tube equipment. Many people ...
Are you on or off? What say you?
Off. At least for now. At my age, end game is way too close for me to squander resources on chasing the next best thing.

I have pretty modest tastes in both audio and liquor. Couple of days ago I picked up a bottle of Maker’s Mark 101. In my humble opinion, one of the nicest bourbons and an especially good bargain. Goes well with my KEF R3 Metas fortified by dual HS...
My Portable Audio Rig
I favor simplicity. LG made serious sound quality phones until they quit the phone business. I purchased an open box LG V40 phone With Bluetooth aptx hd sound. Feeds a Sennheiser Momentum 4 BT wireless over ear phone. I listen mainly to Amazon Ult...

As long as we're one-upping on numbers, I turn 76 in January. Along with age comes a long list of doctors (specialists) and an equally long list of medications On a serious note, my sister passed away last week from medullary thyroid cancer She w...
SACD is VERY confusing
soix; I remember that war well. Sony had the technically superior format but convenience and longer play time won that war.
Anyone has a reference system where amplification is SS ?
It just depends on your preferred distortion.
AddPowr Sorcer X4 -- Huh?
Just meant that for a tweak, if you have rear speakers, You should try a spring reverb. It would give you a nice "boing-boing" echo. Kind of like yelling into a well. Toung in cheek. No offence intended.
For wi-fi streamers--a discovery to increase wi-fi strength
I'm hard wired from my gateway to my Node and from Node to preamp. AT&T gigabit service. I've never experienced buffering or dropout. If you have to use wi-fi I suppose that can throw a monkey wrench into things.
Have you found your "End-Game" speakers yet? I have. And it feels so good!!!
audioman58 Trying your best to burst his bubble? So, price is proportional to quality of sound.

I think this is kind of like the spring reverb a friend of mine had in his 1957 Chevy (6 cylinder, 4 door , 3 on the tree). Had an AM radio since FM was not yet a thing in our area. No 8 track or Cassette either, not invented yet. That was our ve...
I am streaming , how can I play music when provider goes down.
Vinyl or 8 track? Who remembers the Elcaset? FWIW, I have AT&T gigabit fiber. So far, about 5 years, it has been remarkably reliable.
