Why 432hz Tuning?
Just as an addition, I have a friend who is blessed/cursed with perfect pitch. There are two types, relative and absolute. People with an absolute perfect pitch are very much disturbed when music is not aligned with their inbuilt standard.
Why 432hz Tuning?
There is no world standard for tuning. In the U.S, , 440hz A is the accepted standard. I recall buying a tuning fork for my guitar when I first started playing and it was a 440cps A (that's what it was called then). In Europe and in the "Way back"...
Thinking of Downsizing
$1k is a pretty low bar. Perhaps something in the more main line range like Klipsh RPM600/2 or JBL's?
Going back to headphone ?
Don't choose unless you have to. I enjoy both headphones and my stereo system. My equipment would be laughed out of this forum compared to what most posters have. The key for me was to set limits (financially) and enjoy the music. I am an amateur...
Why Do Cables Matter?
While everything makes a difference, does that mean better? As pointed out by many here, science does suggest that Material quality and shielding makes for a better cable. It may cost hundreds of dollars to produce a cable with the properties desi...
Sony TV sound
+1. I have a 55" XBR (not OLED) with great picture quality,  still sounds a lot better when I feed it through my stereo system.
Turntable recommendation
I get tremendous enjoyment out of my (now classic?) old Technics SL-1200 MK2 with an Ortofon Red cartridge. Many on this forum insist that anything less than a mega thousand TT (only belt drive accepted) equipped with a MC cartridge feeding into a...
KEF final call
I did not avail myself of this sale but did purchase a pair of R3 Metas. Best speakers I have ever owned (although that probably isn't saying much). I have them paired with a single HSU VTF 1.MK3 sub. I am having some difficulty in getting placeme...
A Serious Subwoofer
Well, that's a first. Better than live. Must be the quantum accelerators he got from the starship Enterprise.  Pretty good example of obsession with gear over music. He must have some "family" money to finance that massive an undertaking.
TAD Speakers
You could buy new TAD speakers or a new car, whichever you need more.
How does one pick in this situation?
My personal opinion. I’m not a strong believer in speaker/amp pairings. Probably becomes more important when you have six figure systems. To me, I’m more concerned with current delivery and impedance matching.
How does one pick in this situation?
Depending on budget. Sometimes you have to accept the adage of "don't let perfection get in the way of good".  I have found that if you can determine some of your basic needs such as budget, size and placement, reading reviews can point you in a d...
Klipsch Forte McLaren Sale
Ugly is pretty much in the eyes of the beholder but, Putting an "ugly" paint job on a speaker and basically doubling the price is what would make it a non starter. If you want to talk ugly. IMHO, look at some of the new high dollar horn systems s...

Bass- at what frequency does it change from sounding like a string to just a low tone?
jon_5912. This is what KEF seems to be doing. My R3 Metas don't have impressive low frequency specs but they seem to take good advantage of room gain.
