For those who always dreamed of owning a Nakamichi
secretguy: If you're old enough to remember, the Nakamichi Dragon tape deck was a lot of pre digital era audiophiles dream.

It is a shame. If you search some of the formerly great names in electronics, 😿.Kenwood for one, even Bose.
Yamaha M80 Amp
I’m located in the St Louis metro area. Used to be a shop called Alpha tec that was an authorized Yamaha repair shop. He knew the old stuff and brought my CR2020 back to life. Unfortunately, he closed down several years ago. i only know of two ot...
KEF R3 Meta's - too much for my Marantz Model 30?
I have the R3 Metas. They performed well with a Yamaha 80wpc receiver. I now power them with an Emotiva A2 amp (160/250 wpc). The Model 30 falls well into the upper range of KEF's recommended power requirements.

Ha! I’m a ‘48 model.
The "Very Best Record Cleaning Formulation"
Just to add my two cents, since it came up.  I have an original Discwasher system. Brush, stylus brush and mirror, Zerostat gun and tester bulb. All in a very nice walnut holder. I lived in central Missouri at the time Discwasher came on the mark...

Does Anyone Else Member the Golden Age of Audio Insults and Product Degradation?

Disappointing On Mcintosh......help
My Chevy will kick your Ford or Chrysler to the curb! Oh wait. I switched to Toyota over 30 years ago and haven't look back. Buy what you like and what sounds good to you. Your good may not be my good. Quality and reliability count. Hard to liste...
Aidiogon is Da Bomb!
"nattering nabobs of negativism"; Credit Spiro Agnew for that. Those of us old enough to remember.
Why do speakers improve with more powerful amps?
Lots of overthinking on this subject but usually, common sense goes a long way. When I purchased my KEF R3 speakers, I had a conversation with a KEF engineer about suitable amps and he pointed me to a blog on their website about power requirements...
Thinking of Downsizing
Good choice on the LS 50’s. I had originally planned to buy the R3 on their close-out sale but decided to step up to the R3 meta models. Tremendous speakers for the price. I think KEF is really on to something with their Meta material technologies.
Re-Discover my Direct to Disks
I have a bunch of D2D and obscure Japanese high resolution discs from the 70’s that I need to pull out and listen to on my new equipment. Won’t be back home till next week when I can dig through and see what I’ve got.
Best Receiver?
Despite naysayers on here, I’ve enjoyed several Yamaha receivers over the years, starting with a CR-2020 in 1978. I finally traded it off because it was beginning to show its age and the only repair shop near me shut its doors. I currently just r...
What Brand Of Hearing Aids Are Audiophiles Using?
Hearing loss is usually so gradual that by the time we perceive the loss, it is usually pretty significant. What people are perceiving as unnatural is probably what they were hearing when their hearing was good. My brother-in-law got some expensi...
