Vintage Japanese DD Consult and Suggestions Please
Instead of all the fretting and worrying about parts availability and service on vintage, why not buy a new Technics or comparable unit. I tend to favor Technics as they have proven to know a thing or two about turntable building. Well within you...
Things we cannot be bothered by anymore
Sure is difficult to follow a thread when referenced posts are gone.
Takatsuki 300B $255 !!
A fool and his money are soon parted!
Billie MK3 Pre order and Price!!
steakster; You are overpaying. When I got out of the service in late 1970, I went to work at a Lincoln-Mercury dealership. Our retail labor rate was $7.00 per hour
WHY DO SOME AUDIOPHILES TRY TO TELL OTHERS WHAT THEY CAN OR CAN’T HEAR IN A SYSTEM?
Erik, exactly. About to become very close to the age of 80, I still find myself fighting the urge to upgrade or experiment. That's a battle I feel I've mostly won. Considering what I had and could afford throughout most of my life, I feel I've ac...
Which sounds better 2 way or 3 way speaker design
There is no inherent good/bad or superior/inferior re: 1,2,3 or more way. It depends on the skill and knowledge of the designer. As an example, when Klipsh came out with their new Jubilee top of the line speaker, they went from 3-way to 2-way.
Fiber is Coming to my neighborhood
brbrock: Yes, I use their equipment, and the gateway is a modem. You have to use their gateway if you have fiber. I don't know of any way to get around that. Apparently, you can piggy-back your stuff onto it but that gets into areas that are way a...
Fiber is Coming to my neighborhood
I've had AT&T fiber for years now. It is rock solid. Once they start in your neighborhood, things move pretty quickly. Depending on your service tier, the ultimate speed to your systems will depend on your gateway and interior wiring. I have g...
The Disappearing Act
As others have mentioned, some of the early stereo recordings from the 60's are particularly egregious. I listened to some Mommas and Pappas that were cringe worthy. Especially on headphones. Many songs start with sound from only one channel. Weir...
Ugliest Component of the Year 2024!
Maybe not of this year but the Wilson Alexia speakers that are featured in the emails from Audiogon look like industrial grade trash bins. The ones you see in front of many stores and feature the swinging flap doors. I can only imagine what the wi...
Downsizing from tower to bookshelf
I second the KEF R3, Meta version. Really nice speaker and well under your limit.
Single Sub Position
I was never able to get decent bass at my listening position. Added a second sub and problem was solved.
Speaker cables with good timbre
DACs and cables. The biggest black hole money pit in audio. This is a merry-go-round I stay away from. Sort of interesting to start to read a thread like this until it becomes so tedious that my eyes begin to cross. So many people think that you m...
Active Wireless speaker, Dynaudio, Buchardt or Sonus Faber?
you will get lots of personal opinions but without a budget, many will be of no use.
55” or 65” TV Screen Size and Your Speakers: Please Join Survey
Actually, I respectfully disagree with the bigger is always better. Good piece several years back in Consumer's Report about sizing a screen to your room and distance from screen. The primary thing I picked up about too big is that you can have di...
