Tight Bass
Sean, the big advantage of solid state amps is that they tend to have very low output impedances compared to their tube brethren. The solid state amp therefore has an easier time sinking the back emf from a woofer allowing the bass to decay natura...
Any DIYer s out there ?
Rmgcy, I assume you built the zen or son of zen pass amp. Where did you get the monster power 8 ohm resistors and the high current power transformer? I am considering builting the son of zen and I even have the heatsinks, power supply electrolytic...
I am stunned
For those of you who just read the last post, I was fully sober and I only mispelled "listening" in the last line. Ciao
I am stunned
Ladies and Gents, sorry about the delay. I was on a small business trip. I have, at the prodding of many of you who have posted in this thread, tried putting the jumpers back in and just connecting one set of wires. So here is the verdict. It stil...
Amp vs AMP
Why are you looking to purchase Krell monoblocks if you mostly listen to a FM tuner? If you really do mostly listen to the FM tuner save your money and purchase less expensive amps.
Need SS preamp that sounds like tube .
Argent, why spend any money at all? Your Conrad Johnson is a fine preamp. While it may not be the creme de la creme of preamps don't sell your PV12 short, especially with your Bryston 4B. If you feel the absolute need to change the BAT SS pre and ...
Budget amp advice
I recommend the Odyssey Stratos at $995 for 150 watts/ch.You get a marvelous build quality and sweet sound. For the money, they have absolutely no rival.
Why so many Plinius for sale lately
I think Doug is right on the mark. I have seen this happen with other manufacturers in the past. Plinius makes a fine amplifier but it is not for everyone. If you are considering it, have a listen and enjoy.

Dekay, I apologize because I think I may have caused some confusion. My origional post was not clear as it could have been. When I auditioned the speakers at the dealer he asked me if I would be biwiring. I said no (Very foolish on my part) so he ...
How many DVDs/CDs/LPs do you own?
Not alo9t by the standard set in this forum but the ones I do own are truely loved by my wife and I. I am a sucker for Jazz from the 1950's and 1960's. I love those old analog tapes that were remastered to find themselves on the Verve and Blue Not...
Musical subwoofer for under 1K
Mitch, Martin Logan markets the EXOS active crossover exactly for what you are attempting to do. I do not know how much it costs but if it is expensive I imagine a third party active crossover would work just as well.
Audience 60 vs. Meadowlark Kestrel
I have personally never auditioned them but I understand the Thiel .05B may fit your bill and might be worth a listen. Best of luck to you in your search.

Megasam, you also make a good point. I am presently using what the dealer lent me but soon I will have to purchase my own cables. I think I will take your advise and purchase separate cables. So for now it's onward to the hunt! (for cables that is...

Durbin, you bring up an excellent point. I should have been scientific and tried it both ways but I was just so happy with what I heard I just figured the heck with it because I am simply estatic with what I am hearing. Thanks everyone for the gre...
