The problem with streaming
I am an old guy who just became hooked on streaming.  I use Apple as I am already deep in their infrastructure via phone, computer, iPad, for both myself and my wife.   Recently I put a streamer into my 2 channel setup and the ease of searching ...
McIntosh -- good for show, not for sound, says dealer
Why must people try to fell superior by trying to diminish the choices of others.  I would ask the posters who feel sorry for certain gear owners, would you fell sorry for me because I enjoy driving my 1958 Bugeye Sprite with power nothing over my...
McIntosh -- good for show, not for sound, says dealer
A MC2105 is between 45 and 55 years old.  They were produced from 1967 to 1977.  Comparing an unserviced old technology amp to anything not from that era is hard to do.  I will say that a refreshed MC2105 has value n today’s market, not to mention...

I have a pair of MC501 monoblocs running my 3.6 Maggie’s.  I bought them used 15 years ago for 6K.   I could sell them tomorrow for 6K.  I will probably never sell them, but try that with any other brand amplifier.     The reason the hold there v...
Your method for discovering great music.
I search one online using Apple Music, using Old blues artists and then search on their more popular songs.  For example, Howling Wolf wrote Smokestack Lightening and many artists covered it.  I listened to a variety of the.  The same with Woodsto...

Why I sold my Magnepan .7's
I have owned 3.6 Maggies for 15 years and in that time they have lived in 4 different rooms in 3 homes.  The keys I have found to unlocking their huge potential  are threefold. The first is have enough power and a little extra.  Mine opened up whe...
Tube Preamps that work well with SS amps?
It has always been my opinion that mating a tube preamp with a solid state amp of the same company typically provides the best synergy.  I have experienced this with both Audio Research and McIntosh n the past.
Solid state amp recommendations for Maggies?
I have been driving a pair of 3.6 Maggie's with McIntosh MC501s for 15 years of magic.  You need more quality watts with the current of one of the amps like Bryson,  McIntosh, etc.  Lots of good choices at your price point.     one thing about us...

The Most Philosophical Song You Ever Heard
Fortunate Son, by John Fogerty & Creedence Clearwater Revival.  It speaks to me as I wore three stripes in the Army when it was released back in the day.
You own a store, you sell 2 brands, which?
McIntosh, including vintage used!  And Magnepan as McIntosh has the needed power to drive the big ones!  Let's not forget LRS speakers and that McIntosh sells a full rnge of gear
Biggest "bang for the buck" audio gear you have owned(in your history)?
About 14 years ago +/- I bought a pair of McIntosh Mc501 mono block amps to drive my 3.6 Maggie’s.  The make the Maggie’s sing as they have the power and current to feed them what they need.  I bought them used, they are still in terrific conditio...
The first system you had that was "high end/audiophile", by you standards

Magnepan, Best midrange?
I have had 3.6 Maggie’s as my primary speaker for about 15 years.  Two things stand out, get Mye stands for the as the sound improves dramatically with them.Second, have enough power to drive them easily.  After a couple of name amps, my journey e...
