Nandric, Are the moderators THAT prudish? Shame on them.Halcro, Good on you that you did not agree with Ct to use compliant footers. We are not so far apart in our thinking.I discussed with Bill Thalmann your finding that the cage is ferrous and t...

Benjie, Why don't YOU call Lloyd and ask him, and then tell us what he says.Bruce, Everyone knows that a pyramid blocks RFI. That's why the Egyptians built those huge ones. The Pharoahs were buried with kick-ass audio systems.
Why will no other turntable beat the EMT 927?
Dear Timeltel, If you've read that "shoot-out", you should also see that the comparisons were hardly controlled or scientific in any way. Different tonearms and cartridges were used on each tt. Results were largely based on subjective opinion, etc...

I don't want to get into this too deeply on a personal level. I have known Lloyd for years, and I like and respect him highly. In my experience, every one of his tweaks works, but I have not tried them all (as you can tell vis crystals). I think h...

Forgot to add a response to Stringreen: This is not about whether crystals "work" or not. This is about the simple question of whether a crystal can absorb and eliminate or reduce RFI or EMI, at all, to any extent.

Tim, Being a Connecticutian (a term of my own concoction) by birth and still a Connecticut Yankee at heart, I know Willimantic quite well. A prostitute could starve there, unless she also liked to babysit or cut grass. As it turns out, I am wrong ...

Geoff, I sense your sarcasm, but I am immune to it. Another computer search today reveals mainly that Google finds either confirmation from many sources that crystal oscillators are a source of RFI OR it finds references in the Tweakers Asylum and...

Perditty, I meant no slur. Sorry. Geoff, There has been a LOT of published science on the behavior of crystals in electronic applications. It's actually quite an interesting history dating back to the 1920s. By WWII, quartz crystals were already b...

I think the word "hooker" comes from the USA. During the Civil War era, (1860s) there were prostitutes that followed the army of General Hooker, an officer of the Northern cause. Somehow, these ladies came to be known as hookers. I wonder whether ...

I only suggest it would be interesting to listen to Halcro's TT101 with vs without the rubber isolators (or whatever they may be made of). Of course, Halcro has to do the dirty work, so it is easy for me to suggest it from 10,000 miles away. And th...

On measurements. I have pointed out to Raul many times that if THD had so much "meaning" in relation to lowering audible distortions in our audio system, then amplifier development might have ceased back in the 70s, with the advent of the Phase Li...

Really, Geoff. Is it not legitimate to ask questions about such a claim (the notion that certain crystals can absorb RFI or EMI to a significant degree that would result in an audible effect in the average living room)? Or is it you, in fact, who ...
Why will no other turntable beat the EMT 927?
Tbg, Without a doubt, by external inspection the EMT 927 is built like a tank in all respects and to a quality level that far exceeds the visuals of a Garrard or Lenco. The question is only whether all that machinery also results in "the best" sou...

It is possible to distinguish "constancy" (rotation at a constant angular velocity) from "accuracy" (rotation at precisely 33.33 rpm) with a Timeline, altho I am no devotee of the Timeline. But it would be a pain in the ass to do so. One simply ne...
Why No Power Button on Some Phono Stages?
Dear Czarivey, I don't want to frighten you, but if you are really concerned about destructive power surges due to lightning, you should not only turn off but unplug as well. (You do not say what is the source of the "devastating surges".) A light...
