Phono preamp hum I’m sure it’s an easy fix. But the fixer needs physical access to the unit.
Phono preamp hum Your OP is dated 11/15, and on 11/16 you already have replaced the unit. Was this just a quiz?
Tonearm Mfg's mistake Break down and buy the Feickert protractor, and you’ll never need another. It provides for all 9 and 12-inch tonearms.
Phono preamp hum It could conceivably be a tube socket problem but unlikely to be the tube itself, although strange things do happen. I would try wiggling the tube gently in its socket or even just tapping it with the eraser end of a pencil to see if that changes ...
Phono preamp hum It’s impossible to solve this sort of problem “long distance”, once you’ve eliminated the obvious. You did not answer the other obvious question; is your phono stage wall wart plugged into the same outlet as your linestage and amplifier? If not, t...
Recommendations for MM Phono ~ Tube or Solid State Someday when you have a moment, read up on the trade-offs associated with using a transformer to increase signal voltage. In this thread alone, others have alluded to colorations related to the choice of wire used to wind the transformer, bandwidt...
Phono preamp hum Have you checked the grounding? Make sure the ground wire is tightly secured. Then try removing the ground wire. Is your linestage plugged into the same outlet as the Bellari? If not, make it so.
Phono preamp hum Does that unit have an AC filament supply? If so, I could imagine that there is a leak of AC into the signal that takes time to occur when you start from cold, because something needs to heat up before it leaks. It's important to know that this i...
Is Rega the easiest turntable to set up.... Perhaps easiest to set up but also easiest to upset. (See what I did there?) Because of extremely low mass.
Does Anyone Know the History of the Early Sota Turntables? Mulveling, Are you saying that your platter in effect bounces up and down on its magnetic suspension when sufficiently disturbed? So far as I know, the first fully maglev bearing is on the Verdier. SOTA have it now I think. My Kenwood LO7D platte...
A Turntable History Question A very smart person I used to know hung his Advent speakers from his ceiling on springs. And yet, I would still claim he was very smart. Smart people sometimes do dumb things.
A Turntable History Question And you could see actual rubber bands on full display? That sounds home-made to me. Such a suspension is like a spring suspension and needs to be damped in some way, else a disturbance would linger on. Then a second disturbance could lead to osci...
A Turntable History Question Suspended from where? If you could see the rubber bands, I immediately had the image that it was on a shelf suspended from the ceiling by rubber bands. Because one cannot usually see the suspension of a suspended turntable out in the open. Eithe...
Suggestions for phono preamp for LOMC's I always thought the definition (of RFI) depends upon the source, not the frequency of the spurious tone, but I will of course yield to your superior knowledge. Thanks.
HumminGuru Orbit Vinyl Record Static Remover Nothing against the Humminguru, but the Zerostat should work too, if used properly. Trying to find the definition of "properly" on line can be problematic, I admit. |
