Goldring 1042 Anti Skate Too High on Dead Wax
Mijo, On the Wally site it suggests not to use the anti-skate bands on certain test LPs. I don’t know whether that would include the one you recommend.I am also gratified to read the following paragraph on the Wally site:"IMPORTANT: Using a blank ...
Mag-Lev Turntables
There are several conventional turntables where the platter is wholly or partially supported by a magnetic field, but in the vertical direction only.  All of them have a horizontal mechanical bearing of the usual type.  Those have nothing to do wi...
Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously?
This has been discussed elsewhere, possibly earlier on this thread. The TT801 is essentially a TT101 with vacuum hold-down. To incorporate the vacuum system, it seems Victor used, or would have had to use, more ICs, to replace discrete transistors...
Goldring 1042 Anti Skate Too High on Dead Wax
Why don't you listen to some music?  The method you are using to set anti-skate is not the best idea, anyway.  If music sounds good, it IS good.

Mijo, I owned a Star Sapphire for 10 years, and I’ve had some experience with a Cosmos too. Based on my memory of these products only, I would have thought that the spring rate is certainly a bit higher than 3 Hz. In fact, I am now remembering tha...

This is why I use Delmonte Mandarin orange slices in water, in small cans, as my turntable isolation devices. I use three of them to support a slate slab containing a turntable chassis, either Denon DP80 or Lenco. I support the weight of the slate...
Another review of a tweaked Denon DL-103R ??? Oh no! Boring? Surely not! Please read it!
So your effective mass is probably 50-60 grams, at least.
Another review of a tweaked Denon DL-103R ??? Oh no! Boring? Surely not! Please read it!
Ultimate, reading your description of its construction I was most struck by the notion that your modified Denon must be very heavy, since the DL103 is already in the heavy category to begin with. What does it weigh, and what is the effective mass ...

Mijo, Re your response to Indra, how would you delivered energy to the equipment on an isolation device such that you could then “count” it’s resulting oscillations? Seems to me you’d want to replicate the natural state where hitting the TT with a...

Yep. I do know what I am missing, and I don't miss it.Even when electronic manipulation of the system response is "transparent" (and I will believe that when I hear it), the subjective impression of the listeners I have been around is that they ar...
Audio-Technica ART 7
By the way, the ART7 lately found a home on my Kenwood L07D turntable using the Kenwood tone arm and a carbon fiber head shell. Running into the J&R Phonolinepreamp, this is the best sound I have ever gotten out of the ART7, into modified Soun...
Audio-Technica ART 7
At this point in time, I have now run the ART7 into two different phono stages. One is the Manley steelhead, which I mentioned previously on this thread. The other is the phonolinepreamp marketed by Raul and his friend in Mexico. With both of thes...

Every electronically-based room equalizer that I have ever heard does far more damage to the sound than it does good for the sound. So I agree with your strategy of altering the room, rather than the signal to give you your desired response at you...
Have a Victor UA-7045 tonearm coming
Chak, You've expressed one man's opinion.... Your own.  I would not agree categorically that vintage tonearms are more "beautiful" than modern tonearms (whatever that means in describing a device that is actually a tool).  Modern tonearms do tend ...
