Tonearms that work well with better Koetsu stone body cartridges
Not gonna buy the SAT until I first acquire a Porsche Carrera GT for my garage.
Is a Ortofon Black a step down from a Pickering XSV 3000
Dear Chakster, Evidently you really do not understand the connotations of the word "fake" as we use it here.  Or else it means something slightly different in Russian.  LP Gear sell a stylus assembly as a replacement for the original Stereohedron ...
Russian Tube Preamp, No Return, Here I go again
I own a BDP83SE (from the estate of a friend), an Oppo BDP105, a Sony 2400ES, and an Ayre C5Xe-mp.  These are all at least "good" CDPs, but I like the Ayre and the BDP105 best, with an edge to the Ayre.  The BDP105 and the 205 are possibly the bes...
How good is the Micro Seiki DDX-1000 Direct Drive turntable ?
I know very well what it is, thanks.I guess you know there is one on USA eBay right now for $23,000, coming from one of the known Japanese sellers, or perhaps he’s in Hong Kong.
How good is the Micro Seiki DDX-1000 Direct Drive turntable ?
Chak, THAT in the photo looks pristine but it's a Denon, not an EMT.  If being sold by a reputable dealer in Japan, I would not be concerned about packing and shipping.  Those guys know what they are doing when it comes to packing a turntable and ...

Wish I could remember but Triplanar v7 sounds right. Cardas internal wiring straight from cartridge to phono inputs.IKEDA 407 is a descendant of FR64S from the same designer, so probably should work well w Koetsu. Just a guess.MC, where did I or a...

Dear Chakster, I think you are getting a bit hysterical for nothing. What I am quibbling with is your use of the word “fake”. LP gear do not say that they are selling original Pickering or Stanton stylus assemblies. They admit they are selling sub...
How good is the Micro Seiki DDX-1000 Direct Drive turntable ?
In my direct experience, the denon Dp80 was superior to the SP 10 Mark 2, as well. I’ve mentioned this several times in the past on this forum, so it must be getting pretty boring right now. And it’s only my opinion. It also goes without saying th...

Don’t know about the stone bodied models, but the FR64S with Ortofon LH9000 headshell (18g) gets more out of my Urushi than any other tonearm ever, to include Triplanar, Reed, and the Kenwood L07J tonearm on my L07D turntable.

I say again, the LP Gear replacement styli are not “fake”. They are simply a slightly different but related shape (Shibata), compared to the correct original StereoHedron type. LP Gear discloses this fact in their ad copy. There is no attempt to d...
VTA-Nervosa a Curse or a Blessing?
sbank, Do you actually mean to say that you used to re-adjust VTA for every different LP? It’s a wonder you haven’t become alienated from vinyl altogether. Else you are very zen. One and done is good enough for me, unless I hear an obvious issue w...

Raul, I yield to your superior knowledge on this subject, but with all due respect, your post does not contradict mine, unless you are saying that the Stereohedron does not have an extended treble response.  I refer you to this article from the So...
Powering Old Infinity towers with Peachtree 125 sky-- with analog EQ
I’d love to hear a servo static I again. It was pretty spectacular back in 1971 and amazingly expensive at $2000. Can you imagine?Any amplifier will work and sound better into a net 8 ohm load (4 ohm  speakers in series) than it will work into a n...
Is a Ortofon Black a step down from a Pickering XSV 3000
Mijo, I agree with you that what LPGEar sells are not fakes, in the sense that they are real diamonds, and real styluses. However what no one has reproduced in the modern era is the stereoHedron shape which was exclusive to Pickering and Stanton c...
Powering Old Infinity towers with Peachtree 125 sky-- with analog EQ
Here is a suggestion: Fix the room, not the electronics.  And if that doesn't cut it, from what I read, doing EQ in the digital domain is superior to doing it in the analog domain.  Every analog equalizer I have ever heard does serious damage to S...
