How do I remove a stuck Garrard 301 from its base? Is there a rubber profile around the perimeter of the chassis? If so , that may have dried out over time so it’s now adhered to the 301 chassis and to the wood cabinet. There’s no loss if you destroy that in the process of removal. As to the ...
Step Up Transformers….Are they Worth the Trouble? Staying up all night doesn’t ameliorate the crap shoot nature of buying a new cartridge.
Record cleaning and realistic expectations Although I am a good little audiophile and would never think of using anything other than distilled water in my RCM solutions or alone to rinse, I do have to wonder how "minerals" in tap water could possibly do any harm, if you then vacuum dry and...
Step Up Transformers….Are they Worth the Trouble? At last there is a scientific method for judging audio components. Weigh them and choose the heaviest.
Step Up Transformers….Are they Worth the Trouble? Raul, I thought you were “against” the Neumann pole. Many are against it. In my 3160, I turned it off. This has not much to do with the subject of the thread. Sorry.
Discuss The Viv Lab Rigid Arm It’s “masturbation”. I don’t like the brush, either, but that has nothing to do with “scrubbing”. If the whole thing is a red herring, why didn’t anyone on DIYAudio challenge it? I agree, it’s not easy to visualize. The visible wiggle only occurr...
Discuss The Viv Lab Rigid Arm You’re probably correct.
Discuss The Viv Lab Rigid Arm Where did you get the Viv protractor? I wonder whether they’re all the same or different for different lengths.
Discuss The Viv Lab Rigid Arm This is using the tonearm where the pivot bearings are offset to match headshell offset? Or if not, what tonearm? I'd be willing to lend you my RS Labs RS-A1, if you're interested.
Discuss The Viv Lab Rigid Arm Was thinking the same thing, not so much in terms of that phrase "cantilever haze" (with which I am not familiar), but of the fact that cartridges with a very short cantilever might be less subject to the phenomenon of horizontal scrubbing. For wh...

Discuss The Viv Lab Rigid Arm Dogberry, Thank you so much for finding and posting the thread from DIYAudio. It's a very valuable contribution to this thread. I also finally see why the RS Labs RS-A1 might actually benefit from its weirdly raised pivot (which aligns the arm wa...
George Wright If you’ve got or can get a schematic, any competent tech can fix it.
Step Up Transformers….Are they Worth the Trouble? I guess the crux of your quote is this: "I only simulated it for the Paradise but it can be done more accurately in simulation than in real life as a perfect reverse RIAA generator can be used virtually which is built with +/- 0.00000% accurate pa...
Clearaudio Clarify Help Needed! To the OP. Check that the arm wand is not touching the cueing device even when cue is disengaged. If the cue is not low enough, then VTF is not what you set it for, and arm flies to spindle. |
