Discuss The Viv Lab Rigid Arm Theo, how’s your Verdier these days? Good to have you hanging on my every word.
What's A Good Upgrade From A Manley Steelhead? bigkidz, What is your basic upgrade? Do you have a website?
Stylus gauge recommendations ? I forgot to mention, because it should go without saying maybe, that you do have to be careful that the weigh pan is nonferrous (i.e., will not be attracted to the magnet in any cartridge), and must gauge the force at approximately the level of th...
What's A Good Upgrade From A Manley Steelhead? What whart said, "...for some reason, I couldn’t get it to open up-- there was a slight electronic glaze to the sound that made it very hi-fi." The haze goes away with better coupling capacitors and getting rid of the 47 ohm resistors in the sign...
Stylus gauge recommendations ? Any of several of the available digital stylus force gauges should be fine. I use an Ortofon DS3, because it has a readout to three decimal points, but you can spend a lot less for a perfectly good one. Don't overthink it, is my advice.
What's A Good Upgrade From A Manley Steelhead? If your Steelhead is still in warranty, I do understand your not wanting to modify it, as that would void the warranty. Fortunately for me, that was not an issue. Also, I had the needed upgrade capacitors in my stash of spare parts, so no new mo...
Discuss The Viv Lab Rigid Arm Back decades when I first saw that classic (vase/face) Rohrschach image, my first thought was "dessert dish", not vase. Shows where my mind was at. Was thinking of a hot fudge sundae.
What's A Good Upgrade From A Manley Steelhead? I am not about to claim that the Manley Steelhead is the best possible phono stage, but I do own one and enjoy it. I use it as a full function preamplifier to drive the amplifiers of a pair of Beveridge speakers (another topic entirely). I chose t...
Discuss The Viv Lab Rigid Arm Actually most people who look at a Rohrschach will say it’s either a vase or two people nose to nose. This is true for all ink blots.
Best turntable under $4000 The Mc is way cool.
Discuss The Viv Lab Rigid Arm Mijostyn, When you straightened the headshell, did you also change P2S, so the Schroeder was converted to underhang the spindle? By 15 to 20mm, so you get the single null point about where Dave recommends?
Best turntable under $4000 It’s not worth further discussion.
Best turntable under $4000 Goofy and Elliot, OK, perhaps I should have put it another way: Many of the turntables you guys have recommended either suck outright or are going to be problematic for any newbie, because old TTs (e.g., greater than 20 years) with high degrees o...
Discuss The Viv Lab Rigid Arm Pindac, I’m sure you know this, but because you did not mention it, I hope your underhung tonearm will be built with zero headshell offset angle. Dave, in your aural experience reported above were you listening to an RS-A1, or what? Also, what is...
Best turntable under $4000 So a Realistic Lab400, valued at $350 CAD, or a JVC QLY66F, for sale for even less might actually be "the best turntable for under $4000"? That's rhetorical, because I don't think so. If you guys want to turn this thread into a "guide to inexpen... |
