Anybody have an actively multi-amplified system?
Disconnecting would do it, but getting the cables to the drivers is non-trivial. Maybe I'm missing something, but I envision removing at least the backplate where the speaker cables connect to, so to get those cables right to the drivers. On second...
Anybody have an actively multi-amplified system?
This has been on my radar for a long time, but for the time being have chosen to get my system to a higher level - I was indeed just starting. I exchanged with Rodman about 3 years ago on this. But technically it makes so much sense, I keep coming...
Which components to isolate
Heyraz wrote "I would group components based on current draw, keeping the most sensitive components (preamps) away from the most current disturbing components (power amplifiers)".Interesting. I was thinking along the same lines, but thought the mo...
Need help on choosing a sub-woofer?
I second the suggestion of multiple subs, and also Rythmiks. I went from one REL Storm to two Rythmiks and never looked back. On top of sounding great, Rythmiks (with their PEQ amp) have multiple setup options to help tailor to your room.Consider ...
Anyone still use iPod for music storage anymore?
Hgeifman,It is my understanding that while the iPod can be connected to a computer through USB, that USB connection is not meant to stream audio. Hence you cannot connect the iPod to a USB DAC, and that's why there are docking stations for iPod. W...
Sub best at high crossover?
Hello Holter.I'm experimenting with sub placement and settings myself, coming from one REL Storm III and now running two very heavy DIY 12" Rythmik subs that sport many setup controls, and I also use a measurement mic, REW software and an external...
Speaker cables for B&W??
I'm very happy with Purist Audio Museaus biwire with my 804S and tube amp. I guess the Museaus are out of price range, but there's a new, cheaper, line that might work.
How many fuses in a McIntosh MC275?
Thanks for the straight answers. I will upgrade the main fuse then, and that's it.
How many fuses in a McIntosh MC275?
Hififan: my mistake; it's a 2 A fuse because my amp runs on 220 V (it was not 200 mA).Thanks for the link to the service manual. You mean the two fuses called F1 and F2 on page 8, right? So if they are on the filament heating circuit...should I ex...
How many fuses in a McIntosh MC275?
I see...fuses are a ridiculous upgrade to you. Yet I heard improvements every time I upgraded from a std fuse to an audiophile fuse. Why do you waist time trying to convince me of something I did not even ask about? You are surely waisting my time...
How many fuses in a McIntosh MC275?
No, they are OK. Actually, I had an upgraded fuse (the main, external fuse), and it was taken out by a defective tube. You might have seen my thread a while back. Replaced the tube and used a generic fuse and all is working ok.Now I'm in the proce...
JPLAY - It aint subtle
The more I read about JPlay, the more interested I get. My digital front end is now a SB Touch, followed by a Metrum Octave. In a few weeks I'll get a USB converter, probably an Audiophilleo, and will get rid of the SBT and use a laptop as server,...

What now?
advice on configuring a laptop windows system
It has been repeatedly reported USB should be avoided to simultaneously stream onto a DAC and to connect a HDD, because of the serial nature of USB. It will work, but optimum performance is to be attained buy avoid USB for both.So assuming your ex...
Another DAC suggestion a step above Metrum Octave
Kzhtoo,Not clear to me if you are using a usb converter before your Octave. Maybe it was in the posts and I missed it. People claim a huge difference between having one good such converter before the Octave. Like Bhobba mentioned above.
