Tube vs. Solid State Rectifier Mlsstl: I don't need an up converter or voltage multiplyer if I change my golf cart from parallel to series. OK.,OK. I'll go back in my room.
Tube vs. Solid State Rectifier thread jack/ How about the alternative of battery power/ thread unjack.
Tube vs. Solid State Rectifier Basically in a class a or b amp you are listening to the power supply modualited by an input signal. in other words the powersupply is the floor and its supposed to be flat and level. IMO filtering makes more differnce. RALPH.....RALPH!!!
Granny says heah. Yea Doug: I built the sand box for my amps bigger so I can rest my feet in them. But that didn't change the room acoustics.
Granny says heah. Can this effect be replicated by tuning the room more to a live end/dead end by removing all sound absorbation behind the listener or maybe a more sensitive speaker (more dynamic)? I don't want to go down the horn road.
Woofing "Q" Best answer so far!!!
Woofing "Q" Also I am using a SET amp so doesn't that raise speaker Q because of its hi output impedance. Of the speakers that are going to replace the Yamaha 10m (which are sealed) most of them tout " impressive bass for a speaker this size". Isn't that just...
Woofing "Q" I remember a white paper from Dunleavy on multi way speakers and his statement said that the only drivers that should be ported ( hi q) are the biggest ones. Does it make sense that you wouldn't want ported monitor and a sealed sub? idk Or does th...
Woofing "Q" Can you adjust the damping of a box, either sub or sat, acousticaly, by putting a 'brick' in the box or a 'sock' on the port? Thanks all for your patient answers "And may powdered sugar fall gently upon your ears"
Woofing "Q" I understand that level and xover point are adjustable and must be optiomised first but adjustable dampining Now that's a new concept . Marty: is it more noticible to have an over damped sub (lower number) compaired to the monitor or the other way...
Two subs in a small room.... The first thing you need before two subs IMO would be to adjust the square dimentions of your room. Place as much of your furnishings along opposite walls. This will make the ten foot dimention slightly smaller and open a door even if its to a clo...
What Color is your system Since you asked. It is chocolate lightly dusted with powdered sugar or until I switch ultralinear.
Tube help I'v found some glue/cement from Emission Labs. It's got a 14 day cure time. Soos in goes some EH. Wouldn't it be funny if the EH sounded better. Thanks to all And shall powdered sugar fall upon your ears.
Tube help Thanks guys. But I still feel like I'm putting duct tape on my Ferrari.
Tube amp selection- for Magnepan 1.6QR Cary 805c and maggie 1.5 and 3.5 didn't work in my big room nor my small one. The output impedance of the Cary is too high and resulted in a severe lack of dynamics |
