So Much "Harshness" Hi Tvad, I did not plug the TT-PSU into the conditioner when I tried it, just the other electronics. It still had a very negative effect on the sound when the turntable was the source. I had read that these type of products generally have a better...
So Much "Harshness" To speak to one of Al's points, correcting mistakes in orchestral recording doesn't generally have anything to do with the number of mikes used. If a note is missed, it cannot be fixed if there is not another take with the correct one. There would...
So Much "Harshness" Just found this thread - lots of interesting opinions here, and here are mine, for what they are worth. I think the OP is quite close to the answers. Certainly many recordings, especially those of the last 25 years or so since the advent of digita...
Which Integrated tube amp? I would second the PrimaLuna recommendation, I have the Dialogue 2 myself, and have compared it with the Rogue's, which I found very bright. The PrimaLuna line will be warmer, with a bigger soundstage and better imaging and resolution of instrumen...
PP or SET tube amp best resolution on horns? I would suggest checking out the High Efficiency asylum - there have been many discussions of these issues there.
Recommend To Me Some Tuba Music As Jtuba says, New Orleans style brass bands feature lots of tuba lines, though they are often played on sousaphones. Mariachi music sometimes uses tuba in the bass line, if you are a fan of that. If you want some classical tuba recommendations, t...
You're probably listening too loud Jimjoyce25 - nice comments. I am very sorry indeed for the misunderstanding, and the subsequent "blurt" I made. I really need to quit reading and posting stuff so late at night, but that's usually the only time I have to do it. Agree 100% with you...
You're probably listening too loud Jimjoyce25, your comment is bizarre - a player of any acoustic instrument is VERY aware of exactly how loudly they are playing at all times, in all types of rooms, if they are at all competent. Where do you think we practice????
Time To Impose Minimum Standards for LP's I agree with Elizabeth - find local supplies, or failing that, people who you do trust both here and on ebay (my ebay experiences have been quite good for the most part - there are several great sellers on there). There is no way a grading system ...
This may be a silly question but... Paul Klipsch supposedly used to say that lamp cord was good enough.....
Hearing Aids? I'm not a doctor, but I would suspect that your hearing aid should be prescribed by one - there are good specialists out there that can help.
Comments about Nottingham quirks My brother has the table that the Interspace has replaced, the Nottingham Horizon SE. It doesn't have the same tonearm issues. I don't know why they would have changed that design. They are good tables, but I personally would have to agree with wh...
Any Spendor or Proac owners in or near Austin, TX? There is a guy named Brian who had a place in Austin called SoundMindAudio. He had some ProAc's, however, I think he may be going out of business. You might try giving him a call. If you have a problem, contact me privately and I will try to put y...
Tube Question - Do they need time to "Break In" In my experience, my tube integrated sounds its best after about an hour and a half. It will sound great almost immediately, but even better after about 90 minutes. I also would say that the sound of the amp definitely improved over the first 200 ...
Integrated amp under $ 500. I would suggest one of the inexpensive NAD integrateds, my brother used one for awhile and was happy with it. Also Rega's sound quite nice for that price range. |
