new to tubes It seems like Tvad and Al and others are backing up my concerns here, though I personally would try to solve the issue from the other direction, in other words go for high efficiency speakers instead of more amp power. But I am also of the mind th...
new to tubes My initial thought is that you will have a hard time finding an inexpensive tube amp that will drive speakers that are only 86dB efficient. Not being an expert on the electrical side of things, though, perhaps others will have some more concrete s...
Is rack between speakers always less than ideal? There are many who will argue that a rack or TV or both between speakers is bad, and they are probably right. However, for many of us it is impossible not to do it that way. I have my rack and a large television between my speakers, and I do have ...
Piano on vinyl - the best Agree with the Bill Evans on Riverside suggestion, both Waltz for Debby and Sunday at the Village Vanguard. Another great jazz pianist that can be heard on many great sounding Verve or Pablo recordings is of course Oscar Peterson. If you are a cla...
Downgrading from Rega P5, what next? If you can keep your P5, by all means do so, but if not, then the P2 is a very nice table for the money.
First tube integrated amp I have a PrimaLuna and like it very much. The Cary amps are good as well. I would not recommend the Rogue amps if you know you like the sound of the PrimaLuna's, the Rogue amps are quite a bit brighter - they are much higher powered in general.
American Folk/Bluegrass music to die for If you like Bela Fleck, and are interested in fusion, check out the earlier Bela Fleck and the Flecktones albums, especially the first one.
I want to upgrade, But , to which table ? You can get a new P5 within that budget, not a P7 though. Not sure what the Scout is going for these days new, but you could certainly get a used one in that range.
Fun Little Project for improving Dynamics Ozzy, Samson and Delilah has been restored, TCM has run the restored version several times over the last few years. Don't know if it is on Blu ray, though.
Quick poll: Most enjoyable audio magazine ? As far as flipping through the ads, I like to look at the European stuff that isn't available over here in the states. I don't subscribe to either TAS or Stereophile anymore. As far as the writers go, I enjoyed reading Art Dudley the most, and I w...
tube warm up if any I agree with the 200 hours - my amp continued to sound better and better over that time. As for the daily use, I find that my amp sounds significantly better after it has been on about 90 minutes.
Recommended Shostakovich? Of course, I meant to mention the 10th symphony as well, as that is considered to be the best piece he ever wrote, and was also his own personal favorite. A must listen, for sure.
Recommended Shostakovich? Shostakovich is most famous for his symphonies. The best known/most popular are the 5th, 1st, 7th, 8th, and 13th. He wrote 15, and all are worth hearing. If you want to listen to one of the funniest operas ever composed, check out Shostakovich's T...
Good Horn Speakers Of Moderate Size If the Klipsch Cornwall's aren't too big for you, they are a considerable improvement over the Heresy's or Forte's.
Ethernet over power line - noisey? I do not use it for audio, but do use it for DSL, and it has no audible effect on my system. |
