What is a high end stereo SUPPOSED to sound like? Hi guys - some great comments. A couple more of my own, in response. Bryon wrote: "Admittedly, these two kinds of accuracy are different, but they have something important in common: They both require the listener to compare what he hears to SOMET...
What is a high end stereo SUPPOSED to sound like? Mapman, you have hit the nail on the head with your last post. Everyone (not just the recording engineers) has their own idea of what the "absolute sound," or whatever you want to call it, is; in many cases, this has absolutely nothing to do with ...
What is a high end stereo SUPPOSED to sound like? NoNoise summed up what we all wish was the case nicely: "live music is the reference for all things audio. Hopefully, during the recording process that live reference is adhered to." Unfortunately, this is almost never the case, and most audiophil...
What is a high end stereo SUPPOSED to sound like? Wow Cdc, I bet that guy's system sounds fantastic!
What is a high end stereo SUPPOSED to sound like? Hi guys - I wanted to chime in on the conversation about recording spaces for a moment that Bryon and Mapman are having. I don't think that anyone has made the point here that one would almost never want their music to sound like the actual record...
Help with plasma TV choice I think you would be more comfortable in the long run if you bought shorter stands. Could you maybe trade them somewhere?
Help with plasma TV choice Hi Frogman - if you know anything about it, you could probably do it yourself. I knew absolutely nothing about it. The guy did have a piece of equipment, but I believe all he was doing was confirming what he was doing with the remote. So no, I don...
Help with plasma TV choice Hi Frogman - sorry if this gets posted twice, something weird happened on my end. Basically, all of the sets, no matter what brand, are calibrated to look their best in the much darker environment of the stores. When you get them home, they will a...
Rogue Cronus an upgrade over the PrimaLuna PL1? To answer your original question, no, the Rogue will not be warmer and darker than the PrimaLuna. Quite the opposite, in fact. I don't think you would be happy with that choice.
Best place to consign classical LPs in NYC? Another thing you might consider is checking ebay for sellers who sell things for other people. I know there must be at least two people doing that with classical records out of NYC; there were a few summers ago when I was buying alot, anyway. I g...
Identify Klipsch speakers and price Hi Kathy - the older Klipsch speakers are actually called the Heritage series, including the Heresy, Forte, Chorus, Cornwall, La Scala, Belle, and the biggest, the Klipschorn. I agree that you should check the Klipsch Forums for more info, if you ...
Car Audio Speakers They don't rival in home speakers, but Dynaudio makes the best.
What speakers for Primaluna I would second the Klipsch suggestion, I use Cornwalls myself. Any high efficiency speaker should sound at least pretty good with the PrimaLuna's. Another speaker I have heard them through is the ProAc Studio 140's, and that was a nice combo.
Are you a Verificationist about audio? Bryon's first post today gets my vote for the best post on Audiogon so far this year.
Early digital recordings on vinyl vs. CD? Although I would strongly disagree with Doug that digital recording is not inherently flawed, I do agree with him on his digital vinyl selections. Al also has some great ones, and he is spot on in his discussion of why the Telarc recordings were b... |
