Thiel 2.3 vs 2.4 the real difference I own 2.4's. The only real issue I have is the "kick drum range". It doesn't do that super well like it does the rest of the range. I have them paired with it an REL sub. Which fills out the lower range well but doesn't really give you the "thwack...
VPI Classic Platter- Naked or better with a mat? Billstevenson,I have a Prime too, and like you I had bad static, and I also purchased the deer skin. Solved my static issue for the most part completely. The static is the only negative about the Prime, otherwise it's a wonderful deck.
VPI 3D tonearm adjustment I did email Marc last week and he said if I wanted to return the tonearm we could talk about it. I responded say I'd be interested to discuss but I haven't heard back from him yet.
Looking for the good sounding Pre Amplifier Buy a NAD M51 DAC - it functions like pre with volume control, stereophile class A rated (if that matters to you), under your 3k amount and if you ever upgrade it will be a good digital founation.
Recommendations for XLR interconnect cables on a BAT system I use Cardas Clear Light - they don't add any treble harshness on my Thiels.
Buying Without Audition Larstusor - While I agree with most that you need to audition I am was in the same boat (or is it boonies) as you. The one component that varies the greatest in sound are the speakers - 95% of the time if I had to guess. But I didn't have a deal...
turntable speed control Mr. Creeds, not it trying to offend but I own the Phoenix control and tach unit for my VPI Prime. I know for a fact that if you even lightly touch the platter the tach rpm drops instantly. Also - before I powdered my belt - on start up the tension...
Your not a serious audiophile I'd you have?????? . . . If you haven't dimpled you're nice wood floor to allow you to a reference point to maintain speaker placement.

VPI 3D tonearm adjustment I emailed Marc at VPI yesterday and send him some pics. Let's see what happens:)
VPI 3D tonearm adjustment I did try moving the cup. But in my case I need to move the cup up. Doing so effectively drops the azimuth side weights lower and because my VTA tower is almost at the bottom of its adjustment rate it causes the weights to hit the horizontal metal...
VPI 3D tonearm adjustment My arm is not tapered and does not have the integral finger lift. The tonearm shaft is a constant diameter and the finger lift is a separate piece that attaches to the headshell. My serial number is 0634. May I ask what your serial number is?
VPI Scount to Prime, now static Also, I'm not sure how to tell a static pop from a dirt pop. It would seem that if it's a static pop you should hear it from both channels at the same time but I'm not sure how static manifests itself. Also, even if your platter is properly ground...
VPI Scount to Prime, now static I've read mixed reviews on the Zerostat, and questionable quality of the item itself. As for the antistatic mat - while I don't have one what I do do is touch the screw on my light switch right next to the audio rack right before I touch the TT. T...
Can belt driven table mimickingdirect drive . . . I just got my VPI Prime in and hooked up with the motor controller. Pretty amazing TT. A different league than the scout. |
