Who will soon be going to a live concert? I have some friends who went to that Residents show at the Castro!
Hearing Aids and Music I've been wearing hearing aids for about 20 years now, and wow, did my hearing of my sound system improve IMMENSELY after that; sure I've lost some high frequencies for good, but I'm also getting some with the hearing aids that were not coming thr...
FZ documentary a winner Thanks for the reminder!! I've been meaning to watch that since it came out, but keep forgetting! 'Fascination with explosives'? Was he Ronnie or Kenny?
RME ADI-2 fs DAC: Not Loving It I got an RME and I never even used any of the many adjustments; I like the sound of it better than that of the Hugo 2, which costs twice as much. And I agree, it IS rather neutral and dry; seems to leave the 'character' to the amp. But I've since ...
Demos - To Charge a Fee or to Not Charge a Fee? I wonder how many times somebody has walked into a dealer and asked to audition half a dozen or so full-range, big, heavy, loudspeakers, taking a great deal of time and effort for the dealer, only to be told "I like that one - now I'll go online t...
What's your favorite lyric from a song? "She was filing her nails while they're dragging the lake..."Elvis Costello - Watching the Detectives...
Degritter brand ultrasonic record cleaner I got a DeGritter earlier this year and cleaned hundreds of records with it - works great, does what it's supposed to with no problems or issues whatsoever...
Critical listening and altered states I've always enjoyed music with good cannabis - used to do psychedelics and 'E' too a few decades ago. Now I hardly even drink anymore, but I always enjoy cannabis! Goes great with music, movies, telly, sports, etc etc.
Your last concert was to see who and when? 4 nights of Dark Star Orchestra in Jamaica, January 2020....
Critical listening and altered states Cannabis and music have gone together for me since I was a teenager, and I just turned 70. That's for either listening at home or going to a gig.... Used to enjoy music with acid and 'shrooms, but it's been 3 or 4 decades since I indulged in those!
MM Cartridge Recommendation I've got a Clearaudio Charisma MM and I am very happy with it!
Do you all agree when Prince said the 60s, 70s and 80s were the golden ages of music? No I do not agree. There's been loads of great rock and pop music produced in every decade. You might not LIKE all of it, but that's a different story; one person's 'great' is another person's 'crap'. It's all good as long as you enjoy it.
Stock Voyager GaN amp (350/600) Contrasted with my EVS1200 (600/1200) Tweak1 - Leitz lenses are great, but they are not inherently better than other lenses just because they're Leitz lenses. Oh, and 'depth of field' is adjusted by changing the aperture, it's got nothing whatsoever to do with who makes the lens.
Room vs. Gear vs. time of life, ...and you? I turn 70 next week and wear hearing aids in both ears - I've been upgrading my headphone and my speaker system and I'm enjoying listening to music more now than I ever did! I'm a big fan of Steven Wilson, too!
I feel bad for GenX'ers that missed out on the 60s and 70s. I'm 70 years old and as far as I'm concerned, there's been plenty of wonderful music that I love and plenty of rubbish in any decade you care to mention. If I start going on about how 'today's music is no good', please remind me not to be my paren... |
