Is iPod Digital Output Possible? So what are Wadia, Cambridge Audio and other using when they are (supposedly) sending PCM from the iPod to a DAC? If what you say is correct, then they must be doing A/D. And assuming that is correct, why do they have to get a special license from...
Will Thunderbolt replace all as premium connector? The technology is interesting and it will be some time before things "catch on". At the speeds talked about, a switch would be expensive so daisy chaining devices makes it more feasible commercially. It will be interesting to see if there will be ...
J River Vs. Media Monkey Do they sound different I found that out too and went back to V12 - I think that's the previous version. Secure Rip and ASIO support are missing in the new free version. I don't mind paying for Media Center but it is big time overkill for me. I just want to send PCM to a...
Starting Out in PC Audio 24bit/96Khz audio is digital audio files sampled at a higher sampling rate (frequency 96Khz vs 44.1Khz redbook) and bigger word size for data (24bit vs 16bit redbook). Typically DVD-A discs and a few web sites have 24/96 files. You can rip DVD-A d...
Best Media Player for EAC and/or dBpoweramp? Don't waste your money on new optical drive unless EAC can't get a good rip. And if it can't it's probably due to a disc that is in bad shape. Cheap/generic CD/DVD transports today work just fine with standalone rippers.
Tin Can Sound? Maybe reverb is turned on. :^) Most sound drivers include a mixer and dsp settings for effects. Check that and make sure you are setup for 2ch sound. Make sure your speaker and headphone input are from the Front L/R connector on audio outs on moth...
Ayre QB-9, Wasapi vs Thesycon drivers I also should have mentioned that the only reason you need Class 2 USB drivers is for 192khz/24bit music.
Ayre QB-9, Wasapi vs Thesycon drivers The whole point of asynchronous USB is to relieve the DAC from having to (re)clock data coming from the host. Host drivers don't/can't make a difference (unless they're "broken") which was the whole point of putting asynchronous USB hardware/softw...
Is there an app to turn on/off a krell interg amp? You'll need something that has an IR receiver and 12V on/off triggers for the power condition unless the Krell has a 12V trigger and it can be controled via a IR command to the Krell. You might get lucky and find an app for the Touch that can cont...
Is there an app to turn on/off a krell interg amp? Did either piece of gear come with a remote control? If so, you have a chance. If not, you're out of luck. And I don't see a reason why you'd want to turn off the power conditioner. It shouldn't be doing anything that consumes extra power over wha...
USB reclocker pecking order? Cbw - I agree. The adapters make it easy to connect any PC to a S/PDIF DAC. I was going to also mention in my previous post that people worry about jitter instead of "do they like what they hear?". Anything past that I stay away. Too many people t...
USB reclocker pecking order? I'm very skeptical of the marketing mumbo jumbo for the V-Link. The whole point of asynchronous USB is so the target (DAC) doesn't not have to recover the clock from the data stream. This is why is it works so well compared to S/PDIF. With S/PDIF ...
Any one know the file limitations in Ayrewave? The Ayre setup steps were done before Ayre Wave was available. I'd ask Ayre the same question. :)larry
Any one know the file limitations in Ayrewave? Send email or call Ayre. Their customer service is excellent.
USB reclocker pecking order? Get an async USB DAC and then you don't need reclockers. USB can handle 192Khz easily. |
