Your audiophile chair
Poang chair for me, with an ottoman and customed back support.  Without back support, the chair was not confortable but the back support transforms it to a lazy-man recliner.
Poll: Most impactful component
To be meanful, I think you should reframe your question to what component(s) you have changed so far make(s) most impactful improvement, instead of what would you predict it to be. In my case, the first time I felt the system had an dramatic impro...
Lumin U2 mini vs Mac laptop sound test
It is great that you have discovered that. Situation and the outcomes for everyone is quite diverging. If the difference is not audible, you could probably consider selling the dedicated streamer and just stream with Mac. It is a wonderful thing. ...

Fritz Speakers
Could someone explain why such a "plainly" designed pair of speakers cost that much as $3.5k. Is the veneer finish made of real wood? Could someone give us a breakdown of the cost for each component including xover, tweeter, woofer, wires and term...
Speaker recommendations :-)
+1 Fyne F1-12.  I have auditioned it with B&W Nautilus side by side with exactly the same titles of music.  Very impressive with better tonal balance, image and authority lower end although the SS is a bit narrower than expected.
Fair price for used Vandersteen 3a Signatures
The pricing (sub $1k) referred earlier is for 3A, which was in production ’95-’01. A used pair of a 3A Signature (in production after ’01) I have seen is around $1500 with the stand. Compared to how crazy the new one charges, it is a no brainer IF...
amp upgrade
Coincidentally, What Hi-Fi also made a comparison between CXA80 with Arcam (but different model A19), pinpointing these shortcomings you have mentioned.  I am not sure if you  have seen this article before and influenced by it though ... https://...
I was happy with my system for 30 years; now I need a new amp...and more?
You might want to give a 2nd thought on M5i. My reservation is that M5i has pretty high output impedance as 0.2 ohm, meaning that the corresponding damping factor is as low as 40 into 8 ohm speakers and merely 20 into 4 ohm speakers. You might bar...
Prospectives on Chi-Fi
I had Smsl Do200 as a Dac.  Designed and made in China.  A brilliant product.  Time will tell in terms of reliability.
Buchardt S400 Mk II vs Sony SSCS 5 in Bass
@tunefuldude Thanks for the recommendation. I was surprised that I missed it or maybe I stumbled across but failed to include it in my list. It is quite interesting that Stereophile compared it fairly with the Dynaudio Confidence C1 (which is hi...
Buchardt S400 Mk II vs Sony SSCS 5 in Bass
I believe if we do our due diligence well, we should be doing all-right. Leap of faith is not just luck, rather is built on solid background work you have accomplished beforehand.  The more work you do, the more you could push past your comfort zo...
Buchardt S400 Mk II vs Sony SSCS 5 in Bass
Thank you for the good wishes.  I will also try drum dampener silicone pads.  I had tried the spring but found the bass was softened a bit.
What is the proper loudness for listening?
60-75 dBA during the days and 40-65 during the nights. Anything beyond 75dBA in my listening position in room becomes too noisy. And, yes, my best half will come to give me a friendly reminder. Also, when I listen with foobar2000 / laptop at 60-75...
Buchardt S400 Mk II vs Sony SSCS 5 in Bass
Totally agreed, @perkadin, and thanks for words of wisdom. I wish I could get both in in the get go and do the in-home side-by-side comparison but I have only a few days left. As you also point out, the S40 sold in the similar price range to S400 ...
