Started with $1k speakers … what now?
Hi, @hilde45, is this your review? (if not, please share the link)  Based on this review, the Carbon 7 easily outperforms the Burchardt S400 mk II, Dynaudio S40, and SF Sonata2, which are three terrific bookshelf speakers I owned or have  audition...

@grislybutter Great.  Let me expand my preliminary investigation of the SSW index to include all speakers that have polar plots, and correlate them with either reviewers' assessments of the perceived SS width or my own experiences. If you could pr...

I overlook Erin's Audio Corner, whose state-of-the-art Klippel measurement does not rely on anechoic room either as claimed due to the nearfield mic. placement.  Thank you for bringing the spinorama site to our attention.  Yours is still a great s...

@grislybutter You possess more knowledge in the realm of audiophiles, and you're likely aware of how manufacturers measure and publish frequency response (FR) performance data. I'm uncertain whether they use an acoustic anechoic chamber or send th...

@grislybutter a lot of information are available on line right at your fingertips.  For example, TAD Compact Reference One (TAD CR1TX)  https://www.technicalaudiodevices.com/compact-reference-one-tx/, where you could find general spec. and detai...

Congratulations, @grislybutter! This is excellent work that can benefit everyone here and beyond. I understand you might be in the process of filling in some missing brands and models. In addition to the suggested add-on list from @yogiboy, I'd li...
All speakers have a little EQ built in
Although many people attest that the analog EQ does not alter the sound trait in general, I am suspecious if that is true. Essentially, all analog equalizers were electronic circuits with inductors and capacitors which shift the phase of AC signal...
All speakers have a little EQ built in
Why not, as long as you avoid making adjustments that are too high or too low, which could cause clipping, and the quality of the sound such as dynamics and microdetails remains unaffected. Especially during low-volume listening, it is desirable t...

Upsampling, which I believe is the subject to which you refer here, is not the same with upscaling in digital sound.  Also, 44/192?  You mean 24/192 i think.

I noticed you mentioned the everSolo A6, and I wanted to share my opinion on it. I must say I was somewhat disappointed. While the app does flow better (compared to Volumio in my iFi ZS), likely due to the larger DDR memory of 4GB, as opposed to 1...
Would you buy a pair of speakers by just looking at the measured freq. response?
While it's not the only factor, frequency response is indeed one of the main considerations in my speaker procurement. Ideally, the speakers you're interested in should have a home audition period of at least 30 days with a favorable return policy...
Why do I prefer R2R over Chip based DAC's?
These two helpful suggestions do not seem to fit here budget wise.  the Wyred4sound 10th anniversary DAC is very analog sounding and it's only 4,500 US You should try a Lampizator Baltic 4 ($6800)
Why do I prefer R2R over Chip based DAC's?
I’ve experimented with seven topping/SMSL DACs in the low to mid-priced range so far. One critical aspect I’m missing from these Chinese chip-based DACs is the depth in soundstage. Despite having an expansive ’width,’ every DAC (even Topping D90 s...
Does anyone know the crossover point of the Harbeth 30.2 XD?
For Harbeth 30, someone mentioned 2.4 khz in asr.
