Isoacoustics Gaia Speaker Footers Finally, I received my special order of B&W 800D2's mounting plates. The installation of GAIA 1's was a breeze (actually fun). I was done under 45 minutes. And boy, the improvements were immediate....I am hearing better bass, wider soundstage ...
Class D is just Dandy! I have compared amps side by side with older Hypex Ucd and Hypex NC500 and I could not discern any major audible differences. As others have pointed out, It's all in the design implementation and most importantly the power supply. To 'kuribo' point...
Class D is just Dandy! @georgehifi Just by reading your posts, I am convinced that you are stuck in Class A/B la la land. Since you're struck there that can only mean one thing: not being firmly in the present.Through either anxiously living in an anticipated future or ...
Who listens primarily to Redbook CD? @georgehifi In my system, the combination of Aurender N10 and ARC DAC9 sounds just as good as my CD player. Of course, I end up spending close to twice as much to rival the performance of my CD player :-)I love spinning my CD's to this day but I c...
Best combo +1 meschI am using a ARC LS28 pre and bi-amping B&W 800D2's with ARC VT-80 / Merrill Audio THOR's monoblocks. Adding VT-80 for mid's and high's was like 'icing' on a cake.
Jazz LP Review: Lyn Stanley's The Moonlight Sessions Vol.1 I bought the SACD and I agree with OP, she gives an outstanding performance and a well recorded disc worthy of repeated playback.
What are the top 3 USB cables being used today in reference systems? +1 mitch2 - "the sound of these cables is system and user dependent". I have had some low budget and uber expensive USB cables in my system. I end up keeping the Wireworld Platinum.
Who listens primarily to Redbook CD? CD + Tidal streaming, both very gratifying in my system.
Tube preamp with or without phono stage? If your budget allows it, go for a external phono stage for maximum flexibility. Or else, Dan at Modwright can install phonostage option for $300. You may consider following pre, ARC LS27Modwright SWL 9.0 Anniversary EditionCheers!

Speaker Cable Suggestions Try Signal Cable 'Silver Resolution'. I am currently using this cable. Fabulous sounding cable and incredible value. http://signalcable.com/silverresolutionspeaker.html
Class D is just Dandy! @toddverrone, You may be confusing 'Active' bi-amping with bi-amping. Bi-Amp - 2 amps wired to the speakers LF and MF/HF binding posts using the internal passive crossover.Active Bi-Amp - Putting an active crossover in between the amps and the pre...
Looking for a B&W HTM2D2 (Diamond) center speaker in Cherry? I doubt any dealer carrying this item as 'new' since it has been discontinued. I suggest keep an eye for a used one on Audiogon or USAudio Mart. And the color is Rosenut not cherry. Cherry color was offered with Nautilus series only. Good luck!
MQA according to new Stereophile "loudness button" and "tweaking EQ in presence region" +1 shardone.I have been listening to Tidal Masters on a non-MQA compatible DAC. IMO, the increased resolution is more apparent on newer recordings than older recordings. As pointed out in previous thread, not all Master are the same so I am willin...
Class D is just Dandy! @merrillaudio,Thank you you for taking the time to share great insight on Class D amplification. A bit of clarification on couple of things, in your comments, "Class D tends to be fast, unless slowed intentionally or with a tube" - Are you referr... |
