B&W Name Change Theory
If Bose is in every car and they're the richest audio company around, it stands to reason that they're the best, right? I don't understand why this is so hard for you to understand Albert :-)The best part about Bose car stereos is that they use no...
Denon's new Blu-Ray player
For a variety of reasons, I haven't purchased a HD DVD player of either (or both) formats, but as an interested observer, I've been impressed with the number of times I see ads for new releases on both standard and a HD format DVD. Purely anecdota...
is RMAF worth a trip
Last year's RMAF was the only audio show I've ever attended, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was easy to get to, easy to move around the show, easy to listen to the different setups, easy to talk to manufacturers and designers. There was a wide va...
are any of your friends audiophiles?
I'm not sure I even like to think of myself as an audiophile :-)I have many friends who are avid music lovers - listen all the time to wide ranging music, go to shows, etc.I have several friends who seem to really enjoy listening to my system and ...
At $5,000.....any thoughts?
Looks really nice to me - I can't imagine the "client" being unhappy with how that system looks and sounds for $5K. You mention an HD DVD coming in the future, but you have the Oppo listed (and it's inexpensive). Also, are you foregoing a center c...
Ethics: To what degree?
It sounds more like a question of economics than ethics. If you sell a unit that has had repairs, you should be very forthright in describing that to any potential buyer. If a broken unit was replaced with new unit, and that new unit has not suffe...
How Much Is Too Much?
When did everybody turn 50? Sheesh! :-)I like watching concert videos at "live" levels. And, like others, I occassionally like to let it crank. Mostly, I listen at levels that make the music sound good and are appropriate for the time of day, etc....
Can you use banana plugs with Moon Amps
I have the W-10 monos and yes, they can accomodate banana plugs.
What is the one CD you can't find?
Up until a year or two ago, it was Steve Winwood and Stomu Yomashta's GO and GO TWO. They were released back in the 70's and I just loved them back then. They finally were re-released, along with a live version, in a 2-CD set. It's got Stevie sing...
Buying Someone's Records: An Ethics Question
My feeling would be that as long as you're not trying to convince him that they're "probably worthless", and in fact are giving him a nice chunk of change for the collection, there is nothing ethically wrong at all.Say he has 100 records and you'r...
Krell Service
I've had two experiences, both several years ago, both excellent service.
Dynaudio C4 vs Von Schweikert VR5SE Have to travel
I owned the C2's and now own the C4's. I've never heard the VS's. When I had the C2's in a 14x19x8 room I thought they were near perfect. You're correct that there problem is the bottom end, but I found in that room, with most volumes I listen at,...
is it worth it?
Absolutely, IMO. There are tons of great music DVDs, of all genres, and they're getting better all the time.
Retail Music Stores Gone
Audiophiles and music lovers may or may not download, but they do buy online. It amazes me that there are as many music outlets as there are (Borders, etc.) given their pricing, when you compare it to Amazon, etc. Way more convenient, way cheaper,...
Has iTunes, etc. impacted your listening habits?
I have listened to music on a decent-to-good rig for as long as I can remember, save about 10 years when my kids were young, money was short and I had very little time. So, iTunes / computer-based servers hasn't changed the fact that I listen a lo...
