Dynaudio 1.3SE question
Dennis - when you've had a chance to really experience your purchase, please post your impressions. Congrats on your purchase. -Kirk
Song intros that really grab you? ?
"We're An American Band" by Grand Funk - that'll get you playing air-drums every time.
Dynaudio 1.3SE question
I like the Dynaudio line a lot - I own the 3.0's and have listened reasonably extensively to several other models. The 1.3SE is a wonderful monitor, and an excellent deal at the used prices they're available for. However, they do like power, the d...
Home HiFi better than Live?
Home Hi-Fi is a better experience than Live in many cases, but the reverse is true often as well. There's no question that a good quality system reproduces music at home in an incredibly good manner, and gives you a lot of flexibility on what you ...
Dynaudio Contour 1.8MKII vs.Contour T2.5
I believe the T2.5 was developed in response to HT being a bigger thing. I'd go for the 2.5 / 2.1 combo if HT is part of your need. The 1.8 is going to be a bit easier to drive, so if you have a lower-powered amp, the 1.8 will be the better bet.
Use of high current integrated amp w Panamax 1000+
I have the Panamax 1000 too - I used to plug my receiver into it, but since I've gone to separates, the amps plug straight into the wall. I don't know if there are dangers with an integrated Arcam - there may be performance issues if the Panamax c...
Dynaudio Speakers
The answer to all questions of this form is, "Of course not, unless you can afford said item and own it, in which case said item is just thoroughly enjoyed without a lot of thought about whether it was 'worth it'".Besides, your sister-in-law spent...
Need help with a receiver for my HT.
You can hardly go wrong with any of several brands of modestly priced HT receivers. I always recommend Denon, as I think their performance, looks and price are one of the best packages. They have a series that has been upgraded over time - earlier...
Home Theater speakers....what to buy? ?
If $5K is your budget, I'd contact Audio-Video Logic and see if they still have any of the NHT VT3 systems on closeout. They were right at $5K and would be delivered new. Well reviewed, and NHT is a really nice speaker for a system that is heavily...
Integrated Amp with HT bypass
A used Krell KRC-3 would fit the bill well - they go for between 1000 and 1500 used, have HT bypass, and have excellent performance.
Speaker placement and good/bad recordings.
You should go read the threads on being satisfied, etc. It sounds like you've slipped over into the gear-is-more-important-than-music mindset. And if Al DiMeola is boring and homogenic, I'm not sure there's much anybody can do for you :-)
What music have you been buying lately?
I just bought a CD by Kenso, a Japanese progressive rock band. Really enjoyable music, but just a terrible recording.Soulive - Next. Energetic Acid Jazz.Martin Taylor - Solo. Incredible acoustic guitar work. The Datsun - The Datsuns. Undoubtedly ov...
Best speaker in the $4-6k range.
What Krell electronics are you using?Dynaudio is a very nice match with Krell. I haven't heard the new Contour series (just released), but have the 3.0's paired with an FPB-200c in my system. Your room is just a hair bigger than mine and has an op...
What makes a good transport a good transport?
I might suggest "a good imagination"....Seriously, in that price range I'd look for a used Sony DVD player, preferably the DVP-S7700. You should be able to get it for under your target range and it's reviewed as an excellent transport. The fact th...
Please Describe your Music Collection
I currently have about 1300 CDs. I have always loved music and valued decent sound, always preferring music for everything from background to prime activity over many other possibilities for same. As a kid, I built up a collection of about 250 alb...
