Rears: B&W S805s or N804s? I crossover the ASW800's at 40Hz and run both from the RCA outputs of my Krell AVS. I can do this because I use all 7 balanced outputs to the amps. I don't want to confuse things and it may sound crazy but I also run a center ASW800 with my HTM1 a...
Rears: B&W S805s or N804s? I have a 13' X 24' room and use 2 ASW800 subs with my N802's and they just fill in enough in the lower frequency without intruding on what the N802 is playing. I had these subs with my Matrix series and just continued using them but I like them fo...
Krell CD-DSP cd player????? Great to hear that and I am not surprised with your find, a diamond in the rough =)
Krell CD-DSP cd player????? I agree with all the replies posted here and Krell will tell you the same thing about any used or older CD player. Some of the older units may be able to be repaired but it is a risk. I am using a DT-10 transport which I found on AudiogoN for a lo...
How to avoid hum and hiss to speakers from amps. Balanced interconnects also help because they require less overall gain and seem to keep out unwanted noise vs. RCA. I know you really can't do that from a turntable but the more you can connect balanced the better off you are.
Krell CD-DSP cd player????? Don't beleive upgradable software is the only thing Krell really does not offer for those early 90 units. I had a Krell Studio $4K which claimed the same thing and HDCD was never even offered. I talked to them about it and thought it is a big scam...
Martin Logans and Smokers I would tend to think that the tars would be sticky and coat the mylar membrane, especially over time. I once bought a Krell pre amp and when I received it all I smelled was smoke, well it was worse once it warmed up and it was on all the time. I ...
Forty Licks It helped me decide to sell my B&W 801's and move to the Nautilus 802's at my local dealer. Wow is it the best they could ever sound on those 2 remastered discs, my friends agree to.
Proac Original Response 2 VS Response 3 I used to own the 3's and loved their midrange and highs, but they were a little bass shy. I remember reading the best sub to mate was the Muse but the Rel's might be best now days. I was using a Krell 300S and went to B&W when I sold them.
ASC Sound Panels Yep, I have 16 (8) each side of the room and I agree with Racarlson that they do not over deaden the room. I also have used www.acousticsfirst.com and saved a little bit by shopping around. They are deffinately essential to all audiophiles.
Anyone tried using a sub on BW Nautilus 802s Yes, I kept using 2 ASW-800 (Matrix) subs that I had with my 801 S3/North Creek speakers. They mate well and are great for the right left channl for DVD but for metal/rock I wouldn't listen without them. I have never thought of eliminating them an...
B&W 801 speaker stands, do they help? I had the Arcici and thought they were to high for my taste. I really think they are more for studio applications to raise them above consoles and equipment. I have heard of some owners swearing by them and smooth out lower bass by elivating the w...
New Headphone User Look into www.head-fi.com for a great headphone-only forum. You would really appreciate an external headphone amp like the Headroom. I do 70% listening at work with my Headroom MOHR and Ety Er-4S, sounds great with the HD-600 too. It is much more c...
Krell questions and comments All I can really say is that I have kept my all Krell system for many more years than all my other tube and SS gear. I like the quickness and detail that the Krell has but it has alot to do with cables to. I use a AVS, KSA-300S, ref phono, and Pur...
Any one else has a problem re: shipping damage I have had claims with UPS and it is mandatory to keep all packaging, even though they will not honor claims to factory packaging that is not at least 2" thick. UPS will always find something or a way to get them off the hook. I had one Krell pack... |
