Audyssey powered components
Yes. Afaik, the AV8003 will not do 24/96 PCM with Audyssey so one's feelings will depend on what one listens to. For movies, I suspect that most HD is no more than 24/48 but, since it is lossless, it should sound great. For music, one would not be...

The problem with the 8003, which is a competent design, is that it (1) uses MultEQ, not MultEQ XT and (2) cannot use Audyssey with any of the HD codecs. The imminent release of the AV7005 at about $1500 msrp will correct both.Kal

I am still impressed with the 9.8 but have never heard the Rotel.Kal
Squeezebox hard to see?
Well, the Duo has a small display on the remote which you can hold in your hand and squint at. The Touch has a greatly superior display but it ain't gonna help if it is 15' away. I use the Touch but, probably, will be adding an iPad for a remote c...

Since you have an SMS-1, assuming you are happy with the results, you have an interesting option: Get a Classe SSP and transfer the EQ settings from the SMS-1. In addition, you can use the measurement/display functions of the SMS-1 to program the ...

Problems with Marantz AV 8003 & new AV 7005
The AV7005 is NOT a receiver. The SR7005 is a receiver. Also, you may not have had any problems with the 8003 (and that's great) but it does have the limitations I listed above. For me, those are significant and one reason I had declined to review ...

hearing tests - where and how?
This is in response to Learsfool: I am not trying to be contentious but presenting what I know. Most posters on audio forums refer to the work of Oohashi and associates and it is about their work I was commenting. What I do not know is what you bel...

Can I add an headphone jack to my preamp?
Sure but you need more than the jack; you need a driver for the headphones. Unless you have some experience with adding circuitry an active device, you might best consider buying a stand-alone headphone amp.Kal
