Filling a 6600 Cu. ft. room
I vote for putting the stereo (one question answered) in a portion of the larger space. First, a subdivision would have to be substantial to be isolated but, second, whatever internal walls you build will introduce their influence on the sound. OT...
Filling a 6600 Cu. ft. room
6600 cu.ft? 30x40 means 1200sq.ft. To get that to 6600cf.ft. means you have a ceiling height between 5 and 6 feet. That cannot be right.I suspect that a pair of Mezzo Utopias might be suitable, especially if you are planning on adding subs. I have...
Grilles or No Grilles
I think you cannot generalize. If the speaker was designed and voiced with the grille cloth on, then it will only be able to perform as intended with the grille cloth on. If the speaker was designed and voiced with the grille cloth off, then it wi...
JBL B460 passive sub w/o external crossover unit
Nope. The passive sub requires an amp to drive it and your pre-pro provides only line-level outputs. You will need to add a power amp to run that sub.Kal
Dac with volume control and HT bypass
HT Bypass? Those are usually analog sources and most DACs have digital inputs. OTOH, as long as you can set the VC at a fixed point for any analog input, it should suffice.Kal
speaker level sub hookup on class D?
I suspect that you can but I really wonder why. The sub will only convert that input to line level for its own internal amp and processing. The additional amp is adding nothing except its own noise and distortion; low though that may be, there's n...
The Ultimate SACD Machine
SACD is locked unless you have professional equipment or use illicit hardware.
Recommendations for a new SSP?

Recommendations for a new SSP?
There are two Integras numbered 80.2, the DTR 80.2 AVR and the DHC 80.2 SSP.Kal
Sound diffusion panels--do they reduce brightness?
Davehrab wrote: By going into the other room and listening you remove yourself from the extended/sustained ringing in your main listening room that is being caused by the long RT60 times, Echo Slap, and Comb filtering...Not true. You are still he...
AAD 2001 monitors, bi-amping experiment
Dunno. Could be more power. Could be the "tube sound." Could be a change in balance. BTW, did you balance the two amps with measurements or by ear?Kal
Sound diffusion panels--do they reduce brightness?
If your room is bright, changing amps and/or cables is not a solution. Although you have bass traps and an open space behind the listening position (all help), your room still has a huge amount of reflective hard surfaces, especially at ear level ...
Will Squeezebox Touch play iTunes from USB Drive?
My experience is that it takes a long time to index the drive and that access time is slow. Also, it is not certain whether the Touch will power that drive.
