what differentiates in 2/12 way and 3 way speaker ?
Imagine a 3-way with 2 woofers.  If the crossover rolls off one woofer to mate with the midrange but rolls off the other at a lower frequency, it becomes a 2 1/2 way.
How many SACD / Blu-ray audio / DVD audio / etc do you own?
I probably have about 1000+  SACDs/DVD-As but they are all ripped with their files on my NAS boxes for playback.  The discs are in storage.
Why are there so few BNC cables to choose from
Make sure you are getting 75ohm BNCs for digital audio use and not the alternative 50ohm BNCs.
Reel Surround sound : TACET
It is often fun and fascinating but it is less real if your standard for "real" is the traditional arrangement of orchestra and audience.
Bow Technologies Amplifier's XLR inputs - jackpot question, help needed thanks.
It should only make a difference in absolute polarity and be inaudible.
Anybody here listen to Mahler?
Another fairly complete (no 8th) is Michael Tilson Thomas' recording with the SFO in SACD for those who care.   There sure is an 8th in the series.
Changing Turntable to Balanced Output
Doesn’t that defeat the whole point of it? Yes.
Architectural Digest finally shows audio gear!
My daughter's apartment was in AD many years ago and, while there was a casual reference to the audio and HT setups, neither were illustrated.
Changing Turntable to Balanced Output
Phono cartridge output is inherently balanced but one side is often grounded in practice.  However, you would need a phono stage with a balanced input to take advantage of a balanced output from a cartridge.  (I did that many years ago when I play...
Better Sounding Systems, Objectivists or Subjectivists?
I don't have any strong opinion here either 😂, but I tend to call them Measurement Morons. Using "objectivist" to describe them is way too flattering for these morons. That's hardly an objective statement.  😘
Dirac Live - horrible? Dont work
Yes, but what does one see in the curves?  1.  The difference in FR between the measured and the predicted result as well as the correction FR, itself.  You can confirm these with REW, if necessary. 2.  The difference between the original impu...
Dirac Live - horrible? Dont work
Doesn't seem that it is working properly.  In my experience with DL, the resulting corrections should be readily seen in the curves and the resulting sound should be lower in gain as necessary for overhead compensation.   I've not used that parti...
Dirac Live - horrible? Dont work
This is an old app for NAD T or M series AVRs and, as you saw, the ratings are low and there are warnings that it doesn’t work. Why are you surprised?
Better Sounding Systems, Objectivists or Subjectivists?
The subjectivists seem less worried about being duped by some unusually clever nasty capitalist.  There may be various explanations for that and not all of them are complimentary.
Better Sounding Systems, Objectivists or Subjectivists?
When these two camps retire to their listening rooms, which school of thought tends to get better sound? That's the wrong question because they are likely to define "better" differently.  The real question is "Which school of thought tends to b...
