Why do hipsters prefer analog? They will stop when they're too old to feel like getting up, to turn the record over.
New Magnaplanar 1.7 delaminating and buzzing. Barmeg, thanks for taking my joke in good stride. As a past owner of 1.7 and 20.1 models, I do know about their wonderful sound. I hope you get the issue resolved quickly. Magnepan should be jumping through fire to fix your speakers.
New Magnaplanar 1.7 delaminating and buzzing. Magnepans are fine sounding speakers, but don't confuse a 50 foot paperclip, glued to a shower curtain, placed in front of some magnets to be 21st century engineering. Especially when they require the power of a super nova.
The Audiophile's Wife Where has it been for the past few weeks? I love it too.
Anybody remember G.A.S. DCM Time Windows... those were good sounding speakers, but being just a cardboard oval with wooden caps I think it was the perfect name that sold them.
i desperately need help with an audio recording that has a whisper with background noise This is not that hard. Hopefully the background hiss is a shifted frequency from the vocal recording. With an equalizer just lower the hiss while raising the vocal frequencies. Then just turn up the volume. Good Luck.
Is the Holo Titanis the same as the USBe Perfect? Wow, the Titanis looks like the more expensive one, but the UBSe is over 3 times as much! Thanks for the photo links. It makes it even more confusing now though.
Is the Holo Titanis the same as the USBe Perfect? Oh well, I guess no one knows for sure.
Ok ..I have Maggie 1.7is on Magnarisers but one keeps blowing the "tweeter" Is it at all possible to swap the crossovers? I know this is some work, but if it’s not the crossovers, then it’s the tweeter section that is drawing too much current. Thankfully it is fuse protected.
Ok ..I have Maggie 1.7is on Magnarisers but one keeps blowing the "tweeter" How many fuses have blown, and were they all from the same package?
Cary Audio Design CAD-120s mkII or Music Reference RM-9 MkII? Don't count out the Cary. While I've never heard the RM-9, I did get a long audition of the CAD-120. It was a wonderful sounding amp, that I think can take a bunch of different power tubes with a bias adjustment (probably like most amps). With the...
10k Towers with biggest soundstage? Crusty is spot on. You just can't tell by listening in some other room, other than their potential to perform, or not.
Physics Question: Why does cabinet volume matter so much to bass response? You have to brace the heck out a large cabinet though, or else it will vibrate too much and the bass will be crap. A lot of smaller subs with strong cabinets can yield some amazing results.
Wyred SX-1000 Mono’s or PS Audio S700 Mono’s? The Schiit monos draw only 45 watts each at idle, plus they have that standby switch on the front. M700 amps draw 30 watts each, so only 15 watt difference at idle. Now the Schiit amps are not as efficient, so will draw more power as volume increa...
What defines mid-fi versus high-end? Mahgister and Moonwatcher are exactly correct. I was just making a joke. We should all be happy with what we have if it meets our budget, and we are satisfied. |
