Small room, "budget priced" speaker advice, please
Rebbi, You have a really decent system stem to stern now, and it is still really "new" for the most part. If you like the way it sounds, just wait. You are going to be listening to it some time in the future when everything has fully loosened up a...
Is this the biggest HT system ever?
Maril555,Interesting observation. Here is what the author of the article says about it: "all of the cabling is audiophile-grade wire". I however do not see any wires at all. Is the cabling so good it is invisible, including the RCA or XLR connecto...
Cartridge/Phono-Pre Break-in?
Another thing to check is the Vertical Tracking Angle (VTA). If it is too steep, i.e. the tonearm is tipped down towards the record, the sound can be profoundly tin-like. Too shallow, i.e. the front of the cartridge is tipped up, and the sound wit...
Small room, "budget priced" speaker advice, please
Rebbi,Hey - I would run the new ICs and speaker cables for a LONG TIME and then compare them to the Monster cables. I have both AudioQuest Diamondback ICs and Type 4 cables and found the ICs sounded great right away - and got better over time - so...
Dynaudio Focus 140 vs Totem Model 1 Signature
Thanks for the reply. Some stuff just sounds better together. Enjoy!
Dynaudio Focus 140 vs Totem Model 1 Signature
Ablang,On further reflection - while your review is really well written, I find myself completely disagreeing with your description of the Dynaudios - this is not how they sounded to me on an extended listen with high end ARC tube gear, which migh...
Dynaudio Focus 140 vs Totem Model 1 Signature
Ablang,Great reviews and interesting account. Thanks for the follow-up.
Switch to silver for a treble boost?
Douglas, thanks for the info.Carl, try the Caesarstone. There are two purposes I think for the platform:1. to increase the mass of the CDP and it's shelf in general to dampen outside vibration, and 2. to absorb high frequency vibration from the pl...
Usher 718BE or Dynaudio S1.4
Mariusz, Thanks! It is a real disappointment to feel like you can't get a good demo - helps keep my money in my pocket. As the man says, dealers take note.
Switch to silver for a treble boost?
Douglas,What Speakers would you advise somebody to look at if they wanted greater emphasis on the upper registers and to add "treble sparkle and 'air'"? Focal? Monitor Audio? Something else with a metal tweeter? Maybe something with a ribbon tweet...
Usher 718BE or Dynaudio S1.4
I write this "review" more to complain about how some HiFi equipment is set up and displayed than to say much useful about either of these speakers. I really like Dynaudio's house sound, at least for their entry level speakers including the Contou...
quad 22L vs totem arro
Do not recommend the Arros for your taste in music. Great speakers, just not meant to dig deep for rock. The Quads would be a better choice. Great cabinet too. Another choice in my book would be Dynaudio Audience 52 (bookshelf), 62 or 72. These sp...
Apple vs PC for Music System
Many people will tell you that the quality of your digital cable can influence what you hear and see too...but I think this discussion is directed towards digital conversion occurring inside the computer, rather than using a Mac or PC as a server ...
Switch to silver for a treble boost?
Carl109,I agree it wouldn't hurt to try this. Running silver wire all the way from your source to your speakers would have the greatest impact on sound. Signal Cable makes the cheapest all silver interconnects I know of http://signalcable.com/.Sec...

Rebbi,Will be curious to hear of your results. The cables will need some time to settle in as well, at least ~100 hours of continuous play or so. With that said, you should notice a difference right away with improved resolution.
