Power Cables
@mikhailark what is the point of using servers without analog components somewhere in the chain and nearby?  OK, powered speakers with wifi maybe.  For more traditional systems, there will be analog gear in close proximity to the server (and DAC)....
Power Cables
@zlone thanks.  Any insights I might have are hard won.  The good part is that the “winning” always involved listen to music:-)
Power Cables
@trivema I own a few Blue Jeans cables and am currently using a long run of their HDMI wire from my AVR to my 4K TV with good results.  I have actually visited their shop and you are correct that their cables are “good stuff” and unlikely to fail....
Power Cables
@mikhailark my rudimentary understanding is that better power cables can help improve sound from digital equipment in several ways.  One is reducing resistance from the outlet to the IEC inlet, supplying current as needed, why OCC copper wire can ...
Do you belong more to souce first or to speakers first school of thought ?

Free Tip for Jumpers
My experience with three different models of Wharfedale monitors is that: 1) replacing the metal bars from the factory with jumpers improves the overall sound of the speakers  2) the metal in the jumper cables matters with silver tipping the sou...
AV receiver, power cables and conditioning
Thanks @kennyc, I was unaware that AV receivers were more likely to benefit from power conditioning.  In my case that seems to be true, even though I usually operate it in two-channel analogue mode with all the digital sections shut down. kn
Initial thoughts on Rob Watts designed Quartet M-Scaler
@ricred1 got it, thanks.  Did you find that your results with the M-Scaler and the Dave were sensitive to the kind of coax cables you used?  Asking because I did some experimenting with different coax cables with an older Chord DAC connected to my...
Initial thoughts on Rob Watts designed Quartet M-Scaler
@ricred1 nice system.  Wondering what you didn’t like about the M-Scaler?  Assuming that means it did something to the sound, just not something good.
Whats on your turntable tonight?

Those rare albums that are great on first listen.
A little late to the party. I concur with many of the records mentioned already. Here are a few more that did it for me. There are many albums that captured me the first time I heard them, but the following still grab my attention listening with m...
Re: streaming recommendations for newbie
Plus one for @2psyop suggestion to get Bluesound Node X and a Teddy Pardo external power supply.  If the combination is too rich for now, you could get the Node X now, and get the Teddy Pardo later as a reasonably priced upgrade path.  If the DAC ...
Component contributions to “sound stage”
@williewonka I will check out those links.  Thanks. kn
Turntable Isolation
@elevick have you tried Mapleshade’s complete vibration control system with the wooden platform and the brass footers along with the cork/rubber blocks?  I am not suggesting that the blocks alone are adequate.  Not that a VPI table really needs mo...
Component contributions to “sound stage”
I would also add that putting a blanket over my television mounted on the wall between my speakers does wonders for the soundstage when listening in two channel. kn
