Linear Power Supply for a DAC
@lowrider57 thanks for your fast reply.  Yes, I have considered the cost/benefit of using $350 lps on a $500 streamer.  I do like the Blu-OS user experience and the quality of sound.  Going up the Blu-OS ecosystem to NAD streaming gets expensive q...
Linear Power Supply for a DAC
@lowrider57 are you still using the Swagman SE lps, and if so, on what piece of gear?  I just got a Qutest DAC and had Swagman provide a quote.  I have two of his pieces, one of them the SE, and I like them a lot.  I also had an upgraded MCRU lps ...
Bought the Chord Qutest. Love it. Hate the power supply.
I realize this an old thread, but adding a few thoughts.  I am a big fan of lps to replace switching supplies in my system.  This is for three reasons: 1) get switching supplies off my power distributor completely to reduce noise potentially fed b...
Ultimate Turntable search...OMA K5 or ?
So there’s this.  OMA and Air Force compared.  I know, compressed YouTube, but you can actually hear a difference.
What use to burn in power cords?
Interesting how so many cable skeptics waste their time, aging brain cells, precious ATP and electrons repeating themselves on threads about cables.  I am sure your family would prefer your attention. OP, as suggested, just get an adapter and plu...
Asking for members blessings on Nagaoka MP 300 purchase
@lewm thanks for your reply, all reasonable points. Yes, I agree such small changes in VTA shouldn’t matter.  And I have no standing to question Michael Fremer.  I had the pleasure of meeting him once at a demo, he’s quite funny in person. My poi...
"Hardly Used / Less than 100 Hours / Took out for pics only"????
It happens.  I exchanged a damaged Grado cartridge for a higher level cartridge in the same range.  The original Platinum had woofer pumping problems with my TT arm, so I was going to buy a new TT and drop the new Grado Master3 in that.  Never bou...
Asking for members blessings on Nagaoka MP 300 purchase
@lewm interesting that you don’t find any differences with the VTA between disks of different thickness with the MP-500.  I have some lp’s that are incredibly thick, and some from the 70s and early 80s that, well, maybe the bean counters intervene...
Time for a new MM cartridge
@hedgehog how do you like the AT VM760SLC?
Asking for members blessings on Nagaoka MP 300 purchase
Fwiw, the Nagaoka MP-300 is pretty sensitive to VTA.  It is also every thing suggested above, great insight and detail, slightly warm tilt, room filling bass.  The most “life like” sounding mm/mi cartridge I’ve heard to date. I like it so much I o...
What was the first power cable that you noticed a difference in the sound?
Some disappointment expressed here with Pangea power cables.  I have used and built a lot of PCs.  The best low cost bargain I have found recently in an assembled cable is the Audiomeca P-90 OCC power cord single crystal copper hifi power cable.  ...
What was the first power cable that you noticed a difference in the sound?
When I went to buy my first aftermarket cable I dragged my Cambridge Audio Azur 640C V2 CD player into a dealer and he let me connect it to a very high quality Simaudio Moon/Dynaudio system with all Shunyata cables and he let me switch out differe...
Still looking for a new Moving Coil Cartridge
If you are now considering forking over for a new Dynavector 20X2, that opens up a whole different price range of cartridges.  You should look at the Hana ML (on sale now everywhere for $960), the Ortofon 2M Black LVB as mentioned previously, Clea...
Should I graduate to floor standers or will larger bookshelves suffice?
@jonasandezekiel you’re not crazy, I was trying to agree with you that your bases are likely covered on power and bass.  No matter what kind of speakers you choose, with your room, some digital signal processing like Dirac Live might be beneficial...
Should I graduate to floor standers or will larger bookshelves suffice?
@jonasandezekiel roger that.
