Hearing is believing?........power cables.......
Below is link to a previous Agon discussion about how well-designed power cables can change and improve the sound of an audio system. My thoughts are in short that it has less to do with the power supplies and more to do with stewardship of the cu...
Noise from Xfinity cable box
Thanks slbenz, I went back to Xfinity, complained and got a different (earlier?) version of the X1 box which is much quieter.  Now I can only hear the fan when I am within a few feet of the gear.
To power condition or not to power condition AVR
Thanks ptss
Is it too bright or is it high resolution?
I have heard very expensive systems (even with tube electronics) that made my ears bleed - plenty of resolution, but also an a-euphonious bite. This is with recorded music that I was familiar with and generally enjoyed listening to on other syste...
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable?
To the original poster’s question, I say "yes". I have never owned speaker cable that costs $5000, but have heard them in demos and they certainly didn’t seem to detract from the overall experience.Over 10 years ago I replaced a very long run of l...
Noise from Xfinity cable box
Thanks for both of those ideas. I am just about done with a complete re-cabling of my main system and it is sounding really good, and very quiet.  Dropping this noise maker in is a complete drag.
Evaluating a system - what do you listen for?
@bdp24 I don't know how they do it, but when you hook up certain amps to speakers they just seem to have better timing than others (One brand comes to mind).  Good speakers do what they are told.  Source material and electronics (and turntables) d...
Evaluating a system - what do you listen for?
@b, on the emotional connection imparted by a particular component. I wonder if Art Dudley is admitting that even he doesn't have the Audio vocabulary to capture or summarize the full effect of adding or subtracting a particular component from the...
Evaluating a system - what do you listen for?
Thanks for your thoughts everybody.  A comment on the importance of timing.  My brother is a musician and he would agree from the perspective of a player, that in a group of 2 or more people, timing is the ultimate separator between good, mediocre...
To power condition or not to power condition AVR
Yes, for sound.  Video I believe is just passed through to the monitor.
To power condition or not to power condition AVR
@ptss thanks, how specifically do you suggest I do that?
To power condition or not to power condition AVR
@savdllc, yes that is helpful, thanks.
To power condition or not to power condition AVR
@savdllc, thanks for your constructive input.  I think folks may be missing my point which is this: is there a trade off of power conditioner use for an AVR balancing potential lost current delivery for amp(s) against cleaning up digital noise bac...
To power condition or not to power condition AVR
I should have read your response to my thread about power cords first, I see where you are coming from.
Power cable for Arcam AVR400
Hmmm, I guess I should clarify my question. Given that an AVR is both a digital processor and an amplifier, have users had more luck with a cord designed for digital use or current delivery?  Any insights based on experience helpful.
