Cartridges: Complete Scam?
Madavid0, I suggest you attend a music matters demo or one of the big audio trade shows where gear makers, sellers and reviewers have set up high end analog systems including state of the art cartridges in front of other outstanding equipment and ...
Need upgrade from Denon 1520 and better DAC
My quick response on sound of various brands listed:Oppo 105/105D - really clear upper registers, good spatial representation, decent bassArcam - bit warmer mids, voices. Good treble extension and bass, but maybe not the nth degree of sparkle and ...
Need upgrade from Denon 1520 and better DAC
Denon 3XXX or 5XXX universal players are a possible solution, although have not heard those in long time or compared to current or recent crop of uni players mentioned already. In any case older better Denons could at very least serve as solid uni...

Current recording engineers - what cables used?
Uh, @shadorne the studio tested 20 different cable types before settling on Van Den Hul, then they bought 23km.  Is that paranoia, or just being thorough?  Is testing the directionality of the earth ground paranoia or just being thorough?  I guess...
Current recording engineers - what cables used?
Another interesting takeaway from the interview @maplegrovemusic posted is that according to the studio manager, digital cables matter a lot.  This is a subject of special torture well down the lower rungs of cable forum hell here on Agon, and it ...
Current recording engineers - what cables used?
All, thanks again for your input.  Not sensing overwhelming participation in this thread by active recording and mastering engineers, but perhaps they are not generally on this forum.@shadorne , thanks for sharing video of studio so well described...
