A Must Hear under $5,000
I recently built custom plinths for the Dynaudios using 1-1/4" maple and solid brass cone spikes from Dayton. I raked the towers back about 2 degrees to improve time-alignment and rear-port angle, and now even better!!
Review: Dynaudio Excite x36 Speaker
True Schubert, I guess I've never heard a bad Dynaudio either, come to think of it. Its just that these surprised me. A lot of bang for the buck!
Phil Jones' AAD 2003; any information?
Kclone: Keep your eyes open & you may still have the chance. There is a pair of 2003 towers on eBay right now for $2,799.00. For me these are keepers.
Phil Jones' AAD 2003; any information?
Well that explains the cabinet weight!! Very helpful information. Thank you Jmbatkh!

That's great info, Loomisjohnson. Thanks!
Albert Von Schweikert VR-4
Sorry for the delay. I did buy them, and I'm still in LOVE!! It is rare for us "audiophile" types to hang on to a component for long without the itch to upgrade. While I've upgraded my digital source (to a sweet Cary Audio 303/300 tubed CD player)...
Captive turntable interconnects; should I modify??
I think I am going to hard wire better quality cables to the tonearm leads, as several members have described above. I like Marakanetz' suggestion about the low-mass connectors; it just seems intuitively correct. It may be a few weeks 'til I have ...
Review: Odyssey Audio Stratos Amplifier
I'm going to keep this short. I also own an Odyssey Audio Stratus Plus amp. I have owned Nelson Pass amps, as well as others, and I can tell you this amp is just about as good as a solid state amp gets. Period. You can spend 10K more if you'd like...
Rookie; replace my own amplifier caps??
That is very helpful! I know some of the better brands are Solencaps, Blackgate; is there a consensus best brand for a solid-state amp?
DVD-A signal to my stand-alone DAC; problems
The SACD playback through the 3910's analog outs directly into the Musical Fidelity is noticibly fuller than 24-bit CDs played through the Cambridge. To what do you credit the improvement; the SACD 2-channel format or the 3910's triple Burr-Brown ...
Denon DVD-3910 Universal Player; help with digital
I think you've hit it on the nose! The DVD-A & SACD signals do sound really nice through the analoge inputs on my Musical Fidelity preamp, but I'd like to hear the direct digital signal through high-end gear. Surprizingly, the SACD sound is be...
Denon DVD-3910 Universal Player; help with digital
You are right Unsound, the Denon's DACs are pretty good, and do sound nice given the quality of the rest of my system, I just really wanted to try it through the Cambridge's DACs. I think Elisabeth has hit it on the nose!
Denon DVD-3910 Universal Player; help with digital
I understand "Denon link" is a type of interconnect that is also used by other manufacturers under different proprietary names. As my Cambridge Audio unit does not have that type of recepticle/input, I'm wondering if there is a conversion cable wi...
In the red; insufficient power
Bombaywalla, you obviously have too much time on your hands.
In the red; insufficient power
Measured the power at the outlet with a multi-meter. 108.5 v. Is this voltage low enough to degrade the sound or cause long-term damage to my components? Many thanks!
