Cars. What does the typical audiophile drive?
1- 2010 Acura TL SH-AWD 6MT (also ranked best car stereo price no object by Edmunds)2- I'm happy for foreseeable future - what could be more fun and still hold 2 child seats?3- if money no object, I'd keep my Acura, but also rotate an exotic (Pors...
Acoustic Signature Turntables
Sorry, no additional ideas come to mind. I never tried phoning them, although i guess that would be an option. Otto was very responsive to emails about a year ago, seemed to want to undo all the bad p.r. Gunter had generated. Hope they can eventua...
Acoustic Signature Turntables
I first posted in this thread 1.5 years ago, and I can't believe it's still active. I ultimately received very good service from Otto, although I must caution that there are a couple of addresses used by Acoustic Signature, and they are very parti...
Power requirements for Acoustat 2+2s
Sweet speakers. I used to drive 2+2 medallions with ARC VTM200 monoblocks (6 6550C's / amp). They did the trick, sounded very good, but certainly were not overkill. It may come down to your room size and desired listening levels.
Biggest Baddest Audio Cables
After listening to some smaller lengths between my source components and preamp, I just persuaded my dealer to persuade TEO liquid cable to make a special 6.5 meter run of RCA interconnects. They weren't sure they could do it initially, but after ...
The Hub: Acoustat X: 'stats with tubes!
I've never heard the servo-charge amps, but I have Spectra 66s driven by CAT JL-3 monoblocks, and they SING!

Accuphase 109V tuner vs T-1000?
haven't heard the 109V but have had a T-1000 about 1 year. i feel i still haven't explored its full potential, but at times it's almost eerily real. if the cash isn't a big deal and you want a great tuner, i'd say go for it, no way you'll be sorry
Tele CCa Vs, Siemens CCa
In response to the poster's question, if the rest of the signal chain is very clean, I prefer siemens grey plate cca. If things are not "quite there", however, the telefunken cca's are a little softer, and i often find them preferable. Several tim...
Mark Levinson No.512 CD Player---Opinions
My turn to weigh in. Upon the advice of my dealer, after reading all of the above, I nonetheless chose to trade in my 390S for a 512, which I got last week. I had some inital misgivings prior to making the decision, because I had been generally ha...
Audio Research Reference 5 Preamp
Thanks, Sam. You have provided the first "meaty" assessment of the Ref 5, ignore the spoilsports.
Are more turntable motors better?
Well, I guess I'm going to finish up my own thread. I've now had the opportunity to listen to my Final Tool through a quite high end system with 1, 2, & 3 motors for a few weeks, and it's in my opinion a no-brainer that 1 motor sounds best. Of...
Are more turntable motors better?
Syntax,Do you know the details (models, sources)on any industrial motors that were used successfully? That would be great to try. May even cost less if they're not originally intended for audio!
Are more turntable motors better?
Many thanks to all contributors to this thread. FWIW, I have just received a new Alpha power supply, two motors, and a variety of belts for my Final Tool from Otto, the new proprietor of Acoustic Signature. After I install a Triplanar VII and ZYX ...
Are more turntable motors better?
Thanks, Guys. I see the new TW Acustic for $$$$$ has 3 motors, so maybe there is some advantage if everything is properly controlled, but, like so many things in our hobby, the answer is probably "it depends."
