BAT VK-300 vs Gryphon Diablo?
Two very different amplifiers Antonkk. The BAT offers a blessful mid range and would be a good choice / consideration if you enjoy some warmth in the precedings. The Diablo however IMHO completely outclasses the BAT in virtually every area, but mo...
New Bel Canto Gear at RMAF
Hi Guido,A well researched and written review on the Bel Canto Ref 1000 MKII - thanks!A couple of questions if i may?1. In my audition of the Ref 1000's earlier this year one of the most impressive aspects of the amplifier was its speed or transie...
Simaudio I-7 or Pass INT-150
Keeping it all Sim does not guarantee the best sound reproduction. You'll only find that out if you widen the search net a little. To add to Keithr's comment, BAT makes a wonderful integrated amp which IMHO would be a better go-between for Dynaudi...
Simaudio I-7 or Pass INT-150
Both are generally well received amplifiers, but there are so many other choices to consider. Jeff Rowland, AMR, GamuT, Conrad Johnson etc. If you are interested i have listened and written about some of these products as i was looking to replace ...
Speaker Technology over the last 10 years
I have a question on distortion. I've read several times that box speakers have much higher distortion than panels (ESL's)? The box itself is apparently the culprit with measured distortion of 4% or more not being uncommon. In comparison distortio...
I've heard the MartinLogan CLX.... WOW
Does anyone else find the CLX ugly? Has anyone here auditioned the Maggie 20.1 and bought the CLX instead? The price is similar but the looks and specifications are worlds apart. Its the sound that counts though hence the question.
Seeking a "high end" integrated amplifier
04-10-09: ArgyroGryphon Diablo used. I'm not sure you could get one for the kind of budget allocated here but if you could it would certainly be a great contender. I recently auditioned the Gryphon and i really liked it. See http://www.audioenz.c...
Analysis Omega Ribbon Planars

Best amps for Totem hawks?? please help
03-14-09: CjnolanI use a BAT VK-300xSE with my Hawks. It has no issues driving them and sounds very nice. I have owned Totem Hawks and I second the BAT VK-300. This hyrid amp sounds a treat with the Hawks. Personally, I used another amp, the Unis...
Krell FPB 400CX, Bel Canto Ref1000 MkII
03-14-09: Dave_b15lbs...wow, that Bel Canto stuff must use pixie dust instead of real parts I guess. 15lbs? I don't suppose it helps to remind you that two of them are required? Are you suggesting there is a causal relationship between weight and ...
Krell FPB 400CX, Bel Canto Ref1000 MkII
Chauncey, the only way to know is to give them a try. You'll find plenty of anti Class D tee shirts around but in my recent auditions of products using this technology i find good reason for people to serious consider products by the likes of Jeff...
Despriately looking for amp for Maggies 20.1
Johnnyb53,Nice post. Its tough to get any meaningful results by measuring any 20.1 sound parameter at 1m!Re the AV123 LS3 specifications i don't understand why no disclosure is made of weight and frequency response.
Despriately looking for amp for Maggies 20.1
I own similar speakers and would recommend Sanders ESL monoblocs. They manage the amplification needs of this challenging speaker without breaking into a sweat or blowing fuses! Ps. They sound great and are good value too.
