Opinions on the Nola Contender please
Hi Bstefano, What did the Nola Contenders replace? What sold you in these particular speakers? Thanks.
great bookshelf speakers vs 12-18 k floor speakers
07-11-11: Miner42Dynaudio C-1, Sonus faber Cremona Auditor Ms OR Guarneri Momento. These are some of the better monitors around. Perfect for a room your size. Possibly even better still the Raidho Acoustics C-1.0 which I own.
Conrad Johnson CA200 opinions welcome
I think the CA200 is quite an accomplised amplifier though obviously not one without limitations. You don't mention what speakers you are using? When I tried the CA200 with my Eminent Tech LFT-8B speakers (83dB) it did not execute enough control o...
Gryphon Diablo with Dynaudio Confidence C4
The crow:Can whether Gryphon Diablo to play with Dynaudio confidence C4? Yes. The Gyphon Diablo has sufficent power handling ability to drive the C4's.As the Gryphon Diablo is neutral in character the resulting sound will be determined by the res...
MiniMonitor 33lbs w/realistic vocals,not bright.
Try Proac Tablettes. They are super for vocals. Many models available second hand for a very reasonable price. They are not active so you will need a separate amplifier but I think it is worth the effort. Good luck.
Opinions on the Nola Contender please
I should add that i'm looking for a replacement for my venerable Totem Acoutic Hawks.
Compairson ground rules....should we have them?
Hi James63,I very much agree on the importance of context. What drives me over the edge is to read opinions proffered on one product vs. another when the context is very different, i.e. the products were heard in different locations and/or with di...
Compairson ground rules....should we have them?
Thanks Larry,Regarding "opinions" on audio (as opposed to say medical) it has been my experience that people who come to this and other audio forums don't largely come for the answers – they come in search of affirmation...To put this another way ...
Compairson ground rules....should we have them?
Audiogon is the Wild West; there are no rules here because there is no sheriff. There are of course plenty of wannabe 'know it all' sheriffs but if you dig a little you will find their badge is fake.People don’t come here for the land, they come t...
Best integrated amp tube or hybrid up to $7000?
As you already have the AMR CD 777 did you consider the matching AMR AM 777 or AM 77? While the AM-77 did not suit my personal needs it would meet many of yours.
cayinA100 T tube amp
Hi Newbee,I listened to the A88 and A100 in the same system which used Monitor Audio GS20 speakers. In that system I would have bought the A88 over the A100 in a heart beat.To the OP's question a decent power cable (I used Nordost Vishnu), a set o...
cayinA100 T tube amp
Out of interest did you try the Cayin A88 before buying the A100? The reason I ask is I've heard both side by side and despite the A100 being more powerful the A88 was a far more engaging and musically pleasing listen, particularly in triode mode....
Why Not More Conversation about VAC?

Plinius Int 9200 or McIntosh 6600 for Dynaudio C1
03-11-11: InpiecesKiwi, I don't see why a better CDP should solve what Noelpastor described? The Plnius amp has a specific sound, i rather invest in a better amp than another CDP.A better CDP was not the point I was trying to make. Nothing wrong w...
Plinius Int 9200 or McIntosh 6600 for Dynaudio C1
02-08-11: NoelpastorI used to drive my C1 with a Plinius 9200 and Accuphase CDP. It was decent synergy, but not exactly great. The C1 has a touch of darkish, warm sonic character. When paired with a warmish amp like the 9200 may push it to the edg...
