02-07-09: F1aKiwi,Thanks for the link to your excellent and comprehensive review of the AMR. Did you similarly review the Jeff Rowland and Gryphon integrateds, and if so, are they online?I'm working on a Gryphon review right now, but my updated t...
Review: Jeff Rowland Continuum 500 Amplifier
The Continuum 500 does indeed need 150-200 hours to sound it's best, IMHO. (It's less than some other Rowland products, probably due to the heat generated by the PFC units). I've also found that if you unplug it for even a short while, then it ne...
Do Plinius amps have high frequency anomalies?
I perceive the area of principal coloration to be in the sibilance range and it seems to add a slightly whistle-like character to the sound, especially at high levels. On some (maybe rolled-off) recordings, this emphasis can be attractive, enlive...

New integrated for Totem
I have owned the Totem Hawk and found that they loved being driven by Unison Research Unico; either the Unico SE or Unico Secondo. Plinius's excellent 9100/9200 integrated also works well. The Unico was outstanding for Jazz and vocals.
Upgrade bug has hit, interested in Pass Labs Amps
Settle your loudspeakers first, then consider what to do with your amplification. If you settle on some higher efficency speakers then you frankly don't need gobs of amplifier power.Regarding the BC 1000, i had some Ref II's driving difficult plan...
anyone heard the new plinius hiato?
IMHO its not as good as Plinius Class A separates. I wrote a short review on the Hiato which you might be interested in. See below link.http://www.audioenz.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=7269
What CD for my Plinius Hiato?
I am guided by the manufacturers or dealers recommendation on the recommended "run-in" time. These parameters were met. The SA series is not like the 9000 series - which requires a greater warm up / run in time to come on song.
What CD for my Plinius Hiato?
12-29-08: Hce4BTW,How do you like the Hiato? Compared it to the 9200?The Hiato is very different in sound to the 9200. See AudioEnz forum for a review on the Hiato.http://www.audioenz.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=7269
class d - anyone compared bel canto/CI/wyred4sound
Hi Guido,The BC Ref 1000 Mk2's and JR kit have been in my home system recently, though not side by side and my notoriously fickle audio memory [all 2000 milliseconds of it] was therefore aided by written notes of observations of reproduction of re...
class d - anyone compared bel canto/CI/wyred4sound
I've just finished auditioning the Bel Canto Ref 1000 Mk.2 and it is unbelievably good. Compared to the Wyred for Sound (multichannel version auditoned) and the Jeff Rowland 501 mono's i've also auditioned the BC is clearly superior to my ears tho...
"D" amps, general discussion who's 1 and why?
I auditioned the Bel Canto Ref 1000 mk2 mono-blocks recently and was absolutely astonished with their performance. Use a product like this with a tube amp of your choice and i think widespread appeal will be found.Speaking with the dealer i asked ...

the best CD player between 6'000 - 10'000 $ ?
11-10-08: Teddy_bearMike Cary 306 pro is so much better then CD3, CD3 has metal sounding strings. I heard CD3 with AR preamp, Gamut monoblocks on Kharma CRM 3.2. Yes, the latest Cary 306 gets my vote too. I chose this over the Marantz SA7, Esoter...
