I'm putting to rest worrying about sibilance
On the other hand sometime sibilance is in the recording, meaning I have CDs that have this annoying aspect.
I'm putting to rest worrying about sibilance
With the money spent on three mid-line record players, you could have spent on one top quality record player.   After having set up my friend's SOTA Sapphire recently, sibilance is not an issue, nor is surface noise on most records where it was on...
Music lover or audiophile?
Why in the hell would I give a damn if people think I am an audiophile?  I have been called much worse. I proclaim who I am. I AM an audiophile. Others may consider it a pejorative so what?  I do not.  If I could magically hear my music collection...
Music lover or audiophile?
If I did not love music, I would not care how well it is recorded nor would I care about getting the best sound I can from my equipment to listen to it.  It is true I am never satisfied because most recordings do not sound all that great. And the ...
Well maybe it IS my hearing
I think it is not only the physical aspects of hearing, but training yourself what to listen for. Hearing and listening are two different things.  That being said, I have evolved a sense of hearing to appreciate differences in sound with equipment...
ProAc comparison
I have had the 1. EBT (Extended bass tablette w/ two midrange drivers) 2. Original Super Tower, but I replaced the Ti tweeter with the same tweeter used in the Tablette. 3. Response 1S. 4. Response 2S. And 5. Response D2.  ALL of them had incredib...
proac response d2 vs older 2
Comparing the D2 to the 2S.  I like the 2S much better.  They both image like ProAc is famous for. I found the D2 to be a bit strident at times.
Best speaker that Proac ever made
The original ProAc Super Tower, with its Ti tweeter replaced with the tweeter from a Tablette. (So I guess ProAc never made the best ProAc speaker after all).
Is it possible to have vinyl nearly noise free?
I recently fined tuned the cartridge alignment, balance, anti-skid, overhang, etc on my friend's SOTA Sapphire TT.  Since doing so his vinyl is very quiet.   I think setup is the first step to achieve this.  He has never owned a record cleaning ma...
Why the fascination with subwoofers?
low E on a 4 string bass is 41hz.  A lot of speakers can't even go flat to 40hz.  Low B on a 5 string bass is 31hz.  Lowest frequency on a piano is 27.5 hz.
Why the fascination with subwoofers?
Few "full range" speaker go much lower that 40hz. That is a whole octave missing. And a subwoofer designed for home theatre is not what most audiophiles want.  They want one that plays music convincingly.  In fact home theatre speakers are not wha...
Lets replace my Klipsch La Scala Speakers
I find Klipsch speakers have a THEY are HERE, rather than YOU are THERE experience.  Two suggestions in the Klipsch realm: Cornwall or Forte. My first choice would be Forte II from the 1990s. (I have or have had Belle, Cornwall, Cornwall III, Here...
Thinking about buying new speakers....the Elac Uni Fi5 towers or the Klipsch hersery lll
I'lll take Heresy with a good sub or two over Cornwalls any day. But Fortes are the way to go when It comes to Klipsch.
Tight bass sub recommendations
Find some good ENTEC subwoofers, preferably refurbished.
